  • Just go into a branch and ask/demand them. It means they have to print each page out separately... but it will save your stress levels.

IF you can can get internet access, you can actually find them (well on the A&L site you can), I copied mine to a spreadsheet. for when I lose my account access again. However going in to annoy them sounds like another bit of fun ;)
You've acquired an ISA... I wonder if that's mine. They've lost mine :@

Hands off, that's my ISA. Technically they haven't lost my ISA, they lost me (although I have current account) ... come to think of it RumPunch are you sure you're not me? Are you sure, please check in a mirror. Thanks :o
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

The details that FD needs is the Originators Identifier Number - they type it into their database and it gives them all the details they need to do the transfer. That is not listed on internet banking, and therefore why they need to request details from the scamius-tan-der.

They've lost my entire ISA - only £2000, but still my entire back up stash! I dunno if I'd rather they lost me or my money really...

    Bunch of t*ssers!
  • Ahh, didn't know that - thought it was easy. I wonder if anything will ever be done to these people - I'm guessing not.

I applied for a Santander account the other day, sucked in by their £100 offer and free overdraft. After reading the posts on this forum about them and their atrocious customer service etc I decided that I wanted to cancel my application (which they havent emailed me yet to advise acceptance/rejectance). After having to redial twice because they passed me round from pillar to post I eventually got through to a charming young man who told me that in order to cancel my application I had to go into a branch. I said that I applied online and he said it didnt matter. I said that I could not believe that I had to go to a branch to do it and I should be able to cancel this over the phone with customer services and he said very aggressively "are you calling me a liar?". I was gob smacked and said "I beg your pardon?" and he repeatedly asked me if I was calling him a liar. Unbelievable! When I worked in customer services there was no way we would ever be allowed to speak to a customer/potential customer like that.

It looks like I had a lucky escape - good riddance to them! I have now applied with First Direct and they have been extremely polite, helpful and pleasant on the phone.

I also applied for a Santander account with the offer of £100, but my old bank would not release details of our direct debits, and after countless phone calls and bank visits they finaly did, only for Santander to declare that there was a time limit to this and so was not entiteled to the £100 , not very nice of them, especialy to a new customer, i suspect my old bank new what would happen if they held up the transfer long enough, might look into changing to First Direct, does anyone know if i did change would i be subject to a charge as i've been with Santander less than 6 months.
  • Thought I would share!
A&L customer since 2006 with ISA and savings both online accounts.
Attracted by Santander new online saver at 2.8% and despite email saying I would receive login details etc it has appeared on my A&L account list together with another savings account which is not mine (zero balance unfortunately).

My issue is that have spent several weeks trying to transfer money to my linked account and now internally to new savings account but get error message:
We have been unable to complete your transaction. Please try later.

Have telephoned and spent a fortune holding on and speaking to morons giving stupid advice as already stated in previous posts - frankly they are downright rude! Also sent secure message more than a week ago but no joy.

I am slowly losing the will the live and will write to them to close account as soon as my ISA is successfully transferred to Principality - at least I can see my ISA online which is more than some people but afraid it will disappear if I close my savings account.

Whilst logged on just now I have sent approx 20-25 secure messages (about 4 or 5 for each account) and asked them to fix asap. I sent each message with a different reason from their drop down list such as "Account Enquiry - Savings" and "Missing or Fraudulant Payments". I am getting desperate as I need some of the money but no one cares.

Finally found their online complaints form and filled in. Will post any response but I'm not holding out much hope judging by other people's experiences.
  • Just open a new account elsewhere, and escape while you can :)
  • I have already opened Principality ISA and asked for A&L one to be transferred but the problem is I cannot access my £2K savings held by A&L. Having tried everything I don't know what else to do.

Have a Post Office saver all set up ready to go - just need A&L to give me my money.

Have found an email address on the A&L online banking terms and conditions as I see several threads where people have failed to find one. It is letsworkitout@alliance-leicester.co.uk which sounds promising but is no doubt anything but!

I have been on the FOS website as well as it looks like that route may prove helpful except I have to wait 8 weeks for A&L / Santander to continue ignoring me. Ho hum....:mad::mad:

Well I've been moaning on here a bit about Santander not paying out my deceased father's A&L accounts. Payment arrived today, spot on with proper statements including interest pre and post decease. Slow job but they got it right in the end. Thank goodness.

    I

You could try the watchdog e-mail link - it worked for me, because I also had sent numerous 'secure' messages which are still all sitting on my account with replies saying this will be dealt with as soon as possible. Hope it works for you (oh, but I'm still going to clsoe my account, but at least I got a response :))
