Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Thur 1st July. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
1st July already... It seems to me the older you get the faster the year goes by...
Funeral today of my uncle at 1pm, followed by family meal and drop of ale. Looks like rain too and a bit windy. I don't mind that its coolers as I have to wear a suit...
The garden has got away from me. I spent hours in the polytunnel tying back plants and weeding etc. Leave it for a few days and it seemed to turn in to a jungle, side shoots everywhere and that. There are lots of cucumbers now, just have to find a way of selling them. Weeds all over the veg plot and rabbits eating stuff... not sure why I bother sometimes.... Oh well. have a good day where ever you are

Morning N9eav, hope the funeral goes well, or as well as it can. x

Spent 2 lovely days in Yorkshire showing the boys round their new school (they're delighted); now back to cleaning, sorting (ready for move) and emptying the freezer. Got to put some more things on Freecycle, but mostly we're just waiting for the date from the Army. Very frustrating.

Dinner tonight is casserole from the freezer - not labeled, so pot luck really!!!! Must empty and defrost the freezer before we move. Love to all x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Good morning everyone

Neav9 I know what you mean about time flying as you get older, mine seems to gallop by at the moment .Hope all goes well today for you and your family.

esmf73 Hope all goes to plan for your move ,very stressful time isn't it trying to co-ordinate everything especially if you are going to be moving a fair distance away.I made my last move almost 15 years ago and will hopefully never move again.

Today the sun is already up and blazing away and the top temps are forecast in the south east to be 29c+.I have the school run with the boys and then its home and windows open and curtains closed and the fan on if it gets too warm.I am going to juust potter today as its too warm to do a great deal.maybe some clearing up of paperwork but definitely no shopping or anywhere near to the shops.Holidays start next month so I'm using up the mountain of food I have in store this month I think.Nothing to buy thats for sure for several days ,probably not until mid week next week ,then it will only be fresh milk. Very frugal month this month as I want to save as much as possible towards our family holiday on the Isle of Wight.6 weeks to day, I'm on a countdown already.I hope everyone has a great day and if its hot where you are you don't get too uncomfortable.
    Cheers chums

    Morning all,

Neav9-Hope all goes well for you later :grouphug:

esmf73-I feel for you! I really hate moving.

Well, pinch punch first of the month! Very excited about the new month, having become debt free at the end of june this is a new beginning

Can't believe i didnt manage to get on here yesterday, soooo busy and yet i cant remember a thing i did!!
Much much cooler here today-mixed feelings about that.Loved getting a tan but at the same time it was stupidly hot at times and just needed a little breeze.
Had some beautiful new potatoes and peas for dinner last night, both from the garden. They really were lovely! Very pleased with myself :D
Not sure about dinner tonight, cupboards are looking very sorry for themselves, want to defrost my freezer and give the fridge a good wash before i do another shop. Perhaps pasta with HM tomato sauce and some salad (from the garden of course).

Mum has daughter until 4pm today so i can get on with cleaning/sorting her room and then finish off the ironing, want to get everything done by weekend as its daughters 4th and want to take her out for a little treat somewhere!

Hope you all have a lovely day.Shall stay lurking for a while i think,so will pop back later.

    Good Morning

N9eav - hope today goes ok for you.

Didn't manage to get on here yesterday as I got up early and started the paperwork. Got the vat in before the deadline and only have 1 more bank reconciliation to do - its not working out at the moment so will try again later. I then have eoyear for the other business but that shouldn't take as long.

Went out for a meal with old friends last night and had a brilliant time catching up. OH cooked dinner for the kids - his signature dish of poached eggs with ham. Ham again tonight but with salad - too hot for anything else.

Have a meeting at the Halifax this morning as they are trying to get my home insurance quote down, after the claims last year it has gone up 300%

Another warm one here - must admit am enjoying the weather as managing to keep cool - its lovely putting the washing out everyday and bringing it in again after a couple of hours.

Best get on - have a great day.x

    Good Morning All.
N9eav, hope the funeral goes as well as these things can.
Am so excited at the prospect of the kitchen being finished by tonight! In the end I didn't start putting things back as some cupboards had to be left empty for various finishing off reasons - and then I decided I really need to rethink where I keep things in relation to eg the sink, cooker and dishwasher. Need to find the most efficient plan. Any helpful advice out there please???
May be having DS to stay for a few days - he's been back in hospital with chronic pancreatitis and will be officially homeless on his discharge. Will doubtless be in B&B for a while, but fingers crossed he'll find some sort of job soon and that life will improve a bit for him. He's still coming to terms with no longer living with ex-partner and little DD, but wants to stay close, obviously.
Not sure what we'll be eating tonight, but at least it will be here. had chinese takeaway last night - treat, but still feel full this morning!
Two loads of washing blowing on line. It's lovely here, but I expect the heat will build shortly. We've been using a fan overnight the past three nights - not sure how extravagant that will prove, but following two virtually sleepless nights it's been a great help.
I've been reading the Low-carb posts with interest - am very tempted to give it a whirl myself as nothing seems to be shifting my excess at present. (OK - chinese takeaway hardly slimming!!!)
Hope you all have a good day today whatever you are doing. Take care of yourselves.

    Morning all

Hope everything goes well today N9eav.

Cloudy but very warm here so far, was very hot last night - we have had our overhead fan on for the past 3 nights too Beemuzed, there was no chance of sleeping without it, hope it doesn't impact too much on leccy!

Its my day off today and I intend catching up with all the little jobs I have been meaning to do all week, after I get back from shopping. Just had a lovely bacon, egg and mushroom breakfast (low carb - day 2!) and having my second coffee then I promise I will turn the laptop off and get my act together.....:rotfl: I have a lurking headache this morning though so hope to shake that off before it develops!

Hope you all have good days

Love to Diva if you are reading!! Lots of people MIA at moment SunnyGirl, Sunnyday etc hope everyone is keeping well
