Does anyone else have problems with customers always being out when you need to deliver an order? I have been trying to deliver an order for just over £2 to a customer for three weeks! A couple of days into me trying her partner answered and asked me to come back later and then they were out. Today someone else finally answered the door and said she was asleep and to come back between 6-7pm. I have just been back at that time and her husband answered saying he had no money and she was out so could I come back. He said he was expecting her back soon, but I had nowhere to wait so I just gave him the items and said I would come back another time. I am actually considering not dropping the book, because I can’t keep spending all my time walking to her house and back again. I was wondering if anyone else had a system to get round this.

Did you leave the order with him? I wouldnt leave products with a customer before they paid, as if they don't pay you can't send the items back!
I haven't had this problem with orders yet but I get the problem with brochures, so I just cross them off my list x

I had this with someone on my last campaign I went round 3 times and then just sent the items back. She obviously didnt want to pay for them. I now dont put a book through her door and the same with other people i have spoken to who then dont leave the book out.

How rude to copy all the hints and tips and place them on your own website!!
What then happens if people ask for more info on a certain subject?? As you've only just started Avon do you then post a question yourself on this site or refer them to this site directly????

As people generally reply to any question, regardless of how many times its asked in the thread i dont really see the need to change the system and u can then thank the person who helped with the answer x

Well, had an order with no name or address on it, not even a signature. Can't tell from the writing who it is....managed to narrow it down a bit from the day it was collected and text those I thought it could be...heard from 2 and it isn't them, not heard from the other two....so will have to do a note and put it in with all the books asking people to contact me if they placed an order.

and my Mum thought we were being daft stickering up the order forms with "please remember to complete your name & address and include a phone number / email address"....as even so people manage to forget lol!

Just a thought.... rather than do a note asking your customers to complete their name and address, why not do it yourself before you deliver their book? A bit timeconsuming admittedly but a nice personal touch, helps you know where to deliver your books and ensures you'll never, ever again have an order without knowing where to deliver it.

Sympathies.... have similar experiences too with one certain house. I now leave a note (if my customer's either out or her husband answers the door - he never 'has any money, or even a cheque...'). Just say something to the effect that 'Sorry to have missed you; your Avon order (£.....) has arrived; please contact me on tel: ....... to arrange delivery'. Experience has taught me never to rely on the husband/partner to pass on a message but a written note tends to work. Tend to leave the note with the next book i.e. living in hope that when they do actually call to arrange delivery they'll have their next order ready so am not doing an extra journey.

Good luck - Avon would be great if it weren't for (some of) our customers! :rotfl:

I currently do Avon in France but most of the products are so much more expensive than they are in England. I am now wondering whether it would be worth signing up my husband to do it in the UK (he works in London and rents a room off my nan during the week, then commutes back to France for the weekend) and then sell the products from the UK to some of my customers in France. The only problem I can see is that as he rents off my nan he doesn't actually have an address in the UK. Would this be a problem for the credit check? Also do the bottles etc have both French and English writing on them in the UK? Thanks for your help.
    Rachel

Why not just give it a go? If the lack of a UK address is a problem then guess you could sign up your Gran and your husband/you could just manage the account?

Do know that Avon in other European countries can be horrendous prices compared to the UK so well worth exploring whether people would like to buy at UK prices (converted to Euros) + postage and packing.

    Hi everyone,

I'm Emma and became an Avon rep just a few weeks ago.

I came across this thread and have been reading constantly to get as much advice as I can find.

However reading through pages and pages of info and be very time consuming, so I have put together a forum. The information will be easier to access as there are several categories as opposed to just one thread.

I hope some of you will join me there and many thanks to all who have posted in this thread. I'm feeling very inspired. :D

I'm not allowed to post my forum link here so please check my profile for the link if you are interested.

    Thank you.

Plaguerism comes to mind here 'Emma' and, perhaps, 'feathering your own nest'? Sorry if I'm being unduly suspicious or sceptical but the threads on here have served many of us very well indeed and as others have already said there are various Avon forums already set up so why do/did you 'feel the need' to set up another one?

For about 2 years I had an an Avon patch on a couple of estates in my nearby village. Even though I always specified a day and time for delivery with option to call me to re-arrange I often had this trouble with a few customers.

My particular problem were husbands/partners with 'no money, come back later'. I honestly think some of them just enjoyed being 'difficult'. It was quite a stretch to maintain the Avon Smile at that point.

All I can suggest apart from specifying delivery time is when you actually talk to the customer herself, mention how difficult it has been to deliver and can you both make another arrrangement (garden shed etc).

    Good luck.
