    hello everyone :)

i am thinking of becoming an avon rep. i've actually got a call from the avon leader. i need to ring her back asap but before i do, i just wanna ask a few questions because i'm not sure if its actually going to be worth doing.

firstly, how much do the brochures and bags cost? the reason i ask this is because i live on a reallllllly big street and my estate has um, 200 houses on and i'd have to order that many.

secondly, how do they go about paying you? do you have to pay for orders out of your own bank account and then get the money off the customers? or do avon put money in your bank account? i'm just worried you see as surely some people could simply not give you the money and you'd be out of pocket?

thirdly, how much money can you actually make and how much money do you on average make?

As you know, I posted a week or so ago saying my Grandad has passed away, and that OH Grandad wasn't doing too well.

He came home friday, so I can't help but think hes hung on these last few weeks until he got home again. Thankfully my Grandma passed away 10 years ago, so we only have OH gran to worry about, OH has had to make her promise him that she'll stick around for wedding & to see our kids as after 57 years together she's obviously distraught and at a loss of what to do without him. He lived with them from when he was 4 (his parents split up and moved away) so it makes it so much more painful as he was like a father to him.

So proud of OH he was the first one there on Saturday, his gran had rung his mum, uncle and him in a panic, and he got there and helped as best as he could, ringing for the ambulance and explaining to them when they came his conditions etc, and has kept himself together in front of his gran as best he could to be strong for her, though I know how much he must be hurting. He did us all tea last night, and sausage sandwiches this morning for breakfast (we stayed the night) which she though was funny as she never has much for breakfast normally.

So - I won't be about as much for a while - any of my reps who read this I'm sure you can understand, I'm still working, so ask any questions you want, but if it takes me a while to reply please bear with me. My Grandads funeral is on Friday so I definately won't be doing anything then.

Sorry to post such a sad message, but just didn't want to go awol!

    Hiya

You don't actually buy 200 books, you buy about 20. Then what I do is go round the 85 houses in the street, knock on doors and leave them with those that want them. Then when you collect those books back in, you can redistribute them to houses you missed the first time, and so on.:)
    Brand spanking new Avon Rep C12 £440.39 :j C13 £321.25 :j C14 £174 so far :(

Heart goes out to you Lozza; definitely not an easy time for you but it'll make you appreciate the good times more once you've gone down the gulley and come up the other side.

    Good luck with everything.

    ah i see.

what if someone wants to return something? do you have to pay yourself to return it?

also, how are the avon goods delivered to yourself (before you take them out to customers) because i'm not in most of the time :s

Hi, from your username am guessing you're more of a pessimist than an optimist (in which case Avon may not actually 'be' for you.... Apologies if I'm wrong.)

    Brochures are £5.34 for 20 and 48p per pack (5 books) after that;
Bags - range from 24p for 50 mini paper bags to 99p for 50 large paper bags. Carrier bags are also available @ 3p/6p each medium/large

Just because you live on a big street doesn't mean you'll automatically be given that street as your Territory (it may already be allocated to another rep, albeit they may not be covering it very well)

You pay yourself i.e. you buy discounted products from Avon and have 13 days credit, which gives you plenty of time to get your orders delivered, cash in/banked so you can pay Avon what you owe them.

Your last question is like a piece of string - the more effort you put in, the more you stand to earn but don't kid yourself that it'll be 'easy money'. I've had a 'young lady' on benefits, who despite getting over £200 worth of orders (£50 commission) within 3 days of starting has told me - quote: "it's too much like hard work" and when I countermanded that I do it, she told me "more fool you".

If you're only interested in the money aspect then my personal advice to you would be not to bother. There are lots of reasons why I enjoy doing Avon but the money side of things is definitely NOT one of them!

Hope that helps. Wouldn't wish to put you off by any means; why not let the Leader come and give you more details and then you can make up your own mind?

    Good luck whatever you decide.

You apply for credit, return it via your delivery driver (free) and deduct it from the amount you owe.

Your Leader will fill you in on all the minutiae; think it would be a good idea for you to at least see her.

Good for you; sorry, didn't know about the rock song. I was taking lacrymose (or lachrymose as I've now looked up the correct spelling oops!) to mean 'tearful'. Glad you're not! :T

SL came round on Friday and said she would text me that night with the road(s) I could do - no response yet so will have to annoyingly chase however 2 questions:
how big a territory are they likely to give me? ( there are no avon people in my area at all)?
secondly has anyone worked out an optimum number of books per 100 houses say?
    Many thanks
    Macca
