Finally spoken to ASM and arranged to see her tommotow to get account set up (hopefully!!!)

Quick question on Partes, do you think it would sensible to hold one in my own home? I was thinking about having a 'girly' afternoon, maybe on a Sunday where I invite my friends around - and their friends naturally! - what do you think? What kind of numbers are manageable? Would 10 be enough or too many?

great idea, and get the xmas book in stock and flash that around. I think 10 for a first time party is manageable.

Have a look at the first page, there is a post called Avon parties, some hints and tips from other people that have held Avon parties.

I am thinking of holding one, but not in my home! There is a community hall that they hire out, I can't afford the fee but as I am a volunteer with Timebank and they are involved with this community hall, am hoping they will agree to let me have it for free and I will give them a percentage of sales, fingers crossed I would make it worth their while!

    2. I delivered to a few houses that had a notice in the window saying they don't buy from doorstep sellers, but I figure Avon is a reputable company, right? Hope I don't get a mouthful when I go back! There was also one that said no junk mail but I wouldn't class Avon as that. What do you all do in these situations?

Definitely going to order a stamp from Vistaprint, as I think that'll make life easier!

    Thanks in advance!

I deliver to all houses including ones with we do not buy from the doorstep as I am not selling to them on the doorstep. I leave the book for them to view and choose if they wish to buy. No obligation to buy, free to look, no sales pitch from me!

The only house I didn't was a scary sign in the window about trespassing, etc. I thought " I don't know how the postman delivers letters here! I would be too scared",

If they ask you to not leave books, make a record of these houses and don't leave a book.

Don't forget Quidco and Topcashback for Vistaprint!

I think she said my first few orders I have a credit of £200, can anyone confirm this? Does this mean I can not go over this amount before the commission or after?

    Thanks guys

If your SL has told you this, this is your credit limit. If you hit more than this in total sales, Avon will ask you to pay the over the limit amount up front. The amount will be your cost of sales. This is the discounted amount.

If you cannot pay it or cannot get any customers to pay up front, and most won't, then you could put the rest of your sales through your SL's account, which is a shame. But wait and see what your total sales are like first.

A credit limit of £200 means you're ok to put sales of approx £260 through, as your credit limit is for the amount you'll owe Avon rather than the brochure price. If you go over - Avon can ask you to pay some upfront or they can increase your limit depending on your circumstances - though I have no idea how they decide which to do!). You only need to keep an eye on your limit for your first camp, as it increases after that because they expect your sales to increase over time. If you're struggling with your credit limit, reduce how much you order for yourself & from ht, and if you're still over then ask whoever signed you up for help.

  • My strength and experience would be useful as a Sales Leader. Although you have to become a rep first (which I did, yesterday) Not having a huge scope to leave brochures other than door to door (i work from home) - I am a bit concerned that I wont get so many customers.

I am good at selling and I do actually enjoy AVON products. That said selling direct to consumers in their home is a new one on me. Have been familiarising myself with the C16 brochure which is the one I will be working on.

I run a magazine which has a distribution of 15,000 which I will be advertising in as a SL. The Area Manager was very supportive.

Any thoughts, tips comments would be welcome. There is a lot to read through!!
  • Oh and what do you all think of the herve leger perfume? I think it's lovely and I'm a Chanel girl usually.
