Hi all!
I'm a new rep so I thought I'd come and introduce myself! I've been studying this thread (and its predecessors!) and the wealth of information has been amazing Thanks to everyone who's contributed, both by asking questions and answering them.
Now for my own question:
I have my territories all lined up, and my first set of books ready to go out. The patch I have consists mostly of pensioners, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips. Do they tend to order differently? Are there any specific items I should be promoting? Really, I'm just curious as to how I should approach this as I want to make a good first impression.
Thanks everyone!FIRST CAMPAIGN - C14: £178.73 :jC15: £316.65:j0 -

Hi Kynnie and welcome!
I live on, and have my customer base, on a Park Home site and have mostly elderly customers (nearly 7 years).
My observances are they tend to be regular and disciplined with their ordering often spending a similar amt each campaign
Really push Xmas as they will have children & grandchildren & Avon do great gifts for both. Really encourage them to buy early so that out of stock situations won't inconvenience.
Make sure they understand the no quibble refund/replacement and that you will always do it happily. They don't like to be a nuisance and may not like to send stuff back.
Take time to gain their trust and be really regular and keep your promises. They tend to love a good ol' chat so delivering will take ages, so be genuinly interested in their lives.
They tend to like:- Bubble baths, talculm pdr, soaps, body washes, deodorants, lotions, basic make-up, shampoos, the men's toiletries,
They may overlook their free gifts & offers so check their orders carefully so it's great to present them with this when you deliver. They'll love you for it.
If I think of anything else I'll post it up."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
How do Avon work out territories? Do they pick the street nearest to where you live?
I can't say I have ever seen a rep since I have been living where I am now (over 4 years).
Are you able to refuse an area?
HazelKeep smiling - it makes people wonder what you've been up to........:)0 -

Ring Customer Services asap and explain your error. Hopefully, they'll offer to take back your excess books and replace them with your forward campaigns. Or they may even offer to take them back for credit but wouldn't hold out much hope of that.
If neither of those work, see if your SL/ASM can help.
Good luck.
PS: On the bright side (there's always one - just sometimes takes a bit of searching for! :rotfl:) If Avon do agree to replace your books for future campaigns, it'll mean you get all your 'new' books @ 48p per pack! :TMake the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Welcome, Kinny. See you've already got some great advice :T
Another tip is as/when you come across the 'chatty' customers, let them know that you can get access to clearance items not normally available to customers and you're more than happy to keep an eye out for anything that may be of interest to them - on a sale or return basis, of course. In the beginning they may not want to give out too much personal information but as time goes on you'll find out who's got how many grandchildren to buy for at Christmas, birthdays, etc and chances are they will put things away as/when they come across bargains.
Good luck.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)
