Hi everyone
sorry if this has been asked before - I'm looking at starting Avon now that i'm on maternity leave from work. Can anyone tell me if the income i make from doing this will affect our Working Tax Credit award that we get? ie, will the income from Avon be taken into account and affect the amount of tax credits we receive.
Hope you can help, Rachael.0 -
Hi Rachael
yes, you will have to tell Working Tax Credit that you are working as self employed and doing Avon. But when I first registered, I told them my average earnings were £50 per month, and I worked 20 hours a week. They took this information and said when I do my self assessment to let them know my actual figures.0 -
Hi Rachael,
Welcome to the boards. Im sure you will get loads of help and advice on here. It would probably help if you post where a bouts you are from as there are loads of sales leaders on here and perhaps a local one may be able to give you a call and talk you through it all and then maybe sign you up if you are still interested.

Agree with Mel :T and, of course, congrats Rachael.
It's generally thought better to sign up with a Sales Leader rather than direct with Avon as they'll tag you to an Area Sales Manager (they're salaried to Avon and don't have as much time as us SLs to help guide you through all the Hints and Tips to make sure you get the best out of Avon)
Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Touting for new recruits is against site rules, as well established members like your goodself should know. The OP amended the first post in this thread to take this into account.0 -
I was not ''touting'' for business as you put it. I was simply offering advice to Rachael on how to get in touch with someone that may be able to offer her some more support locally.
No where in my post was I trying to recruit her.
Its people like yourself that can really damage boards like this where people are simply offering help and advice. It really can put newbies off posting in the future.

Argggh had someone booked in for 11am today...and can't get hold of them either, so presumably they've changed their mind too! Bleeding typical lol!
On the plus side, got my hair cut this morning for £5Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

I am in TOTAL agreement with Mel - it's not touting for business at all.
Mel was just giving absolutely sound advice to Rachael.
The whole business of tax credits etc. is a minefield and does take a bit of explaining etc. and depending on what Rachael actually wants to do with Avon (either representative or Sales Leader) will alter the advice given regarding tax credits, keeping accounts and doing all that boring tax/legal stuff.
Mel was completely right to say that Rachael should get in touch with someone local to her who can give her all the guidance and 1 on 1 help required. Little things like what receipts to keep, what she can claim against her Avon "profit"....the list goes on and on......
I would also like to say that unless an ASM is an ex-Accountant - they are unlikely to be able to give you the right advice regarding tax and benefits. At least an independent Sales Leader has a chance of being able to have the benefit of experience of dealing with tax credits, tax returns and other things associated with being Self-Employed.0 -
C12 looking a little slow for me - currently running at a third of the orders that I had last campaign. And guess how many lotus shield I have orders for - none! Still have the other half of my customers to canvass but looking at my current orders I reckon I'll be lucky to shift one or two. Mind you, think some must be on their hols/due to go away as a few regulars have not ordered this time.
