I'm finding the site is really slow today,
and it was slow last night too,

is that a coincidence as we've just had the avatar facility back or is something behind the scenes slowing it up

    The tips being sent -

We've found when there are over 900 people on the site it slows dramatically. This is the reason for the server upgrade (prob early next week)

  • It's going slow because the weekly Tip has gone out.

We seem to slow down when we reach a critical mass of about 850 users online. So, when the Tip is sent, the upsurge of users clicking through to the Chat Forum takes us over a 1000 and into the sluggish territory that we're now experiencing.

The new server upgrade is going ahead and we hope to have it up by early next week and certainly in time for next week's Tip. Hopefully, today and tomorrow will see the last of the slowness.

Ye was just gonna say how slow it seems to be 2night...I guess it doesn't help when there are well over 1100 people surfing the forums! Bring on the new servers!

  • Hate to complain because the site has been and is invaluble, but it is incredibly slow and has been for some time

I understand it is with the Tips going out, but at the same time it is a real pain sitting here, waiting for pages to load and replying to posts takes absolutely for ever.

My patience is generally very good, but my back doesn't agree with me. It hurts.:(

Folks. Don't worry. I'm making a major investment in much much bigger servers - we're going to an 'enterprise server' (whatever that means - i keep thinking star trek) but effectively to deal with chat forum the existing server will just store the data and two super-fast processor servers will work in tandom to send the info.

All in all I've asked we've enough juice to cope with 4,000 online at one time. I hope it works. However to get the set up so there's no down time, we've had to wait to configure. My aim is that for next weeks tip it'll all be rockin :)
