Well, I have thought long and hard about this...and going for 12 NSDs in July spoon. We are off on holiday to Scotland from the 6th to the 18th...so may/may not pick up loads then, I have no idea! I may revise my target once I get back.

Today was a middling spend day, nipped to Mr Ms after sitting a Databases (Access) assessment this evening (made loads of silly mistakes , hope to have passed, but bye-bye distinction :(). So possibly spent a bit more than I should have...not many bargains to be had (8:15), but sneaked in a few - all but one was on my list! :)

Need to get stuff from the green-grocers tomorrow, so another (lowish) spending day. Collecting DS1 from uni tomorrow too (at 1:30 so I am taking sandwiches :D)....only 1 hour away, so not too far. May top up diesel in the afternoon once back, in preparation of our trip north on Tuesday. Here's hoping we can pick up a brace of NSDs over the weekend, a good start before we go.

Beginning to get excited about our holiday now...didn't have one last year as too ill...haven't seen my Dad since Aug. 2008, so really can't wait!

Off to bed now...really shattered, see you tomorrow.

PS Thanks for the pony in June spoon ! :T

What about connie_mini_hotairballoonmini.gif or JC_you_rock.gif, bit lame though, found one for peeps struggling and needing extra help help.gif

Another one for me today Spoon taking me to the starry heights of 3 NSD's. Got the first 6 strawberries from the garden today YAY, left them in a bowl on the side whilst I went to see if I could find any more, so I could make a little pud with them for after tea and when I came back there was 4 left and a chomping DH stood over the bowl telling me how nice they tasted grrrrr! He was right, luckily I stopped him and found some more and we had Strawberry, Lemon Verbena and Mascarpone Fool, yum, yum, yum!

Think the salad spuds are ready to pull up as well, and I have a few lettuces ready to use, so will alter the meal plan to accommodate them. Got some whoopsies the other day on a small piece of lamb, some minced beef, bread and pilau rice, crammed them into the freezer, not been getting so many whoopsies lately so I was rather pleased with the haul. Baking tomorrow, got DSS coming for a visit this weekend so using the cherries I got from Aldi to make him Black Forest Muffins and some more strawberries to make Fresh Strawberry Muffins, nom, nom, nom. He'll scoff more than us though, he's almost 18 and has hollow legs lol! Off to catch up with t'other posts now...

I can already declare that tomorrow (July 1st) won't be an NSD :(

    .......

Planning to make the most of it being a 'Spend Day' though.

Well, today must have been my biggest spend day of at least the past 4 years  (other than 01/08/2006, when I got my current car - second hand, but still a cash purchase)

Started (at around 1am) with £390 on a laptop for DS - which resulted in a call from the fraud section of my card company while I was in the fitting room at Mr T, and that I couldn't action in time (automated "press buttons" call on a mobile that doesn't have a normal numeric keypad.... it's a phone that opens out to a QWERTY, but that takes too long and the call times out!) -- which in turn resulted in my card being refused in another shop as it had then been blocked!! So I had to call the card company while I was getting ready for work and get it all put through and re-opened :o Only £60 of the cost of the laptop comes out of my budgets though, as that's what I've taken out of his presents fund towards it (the rest is an "incidental" out of my meagre savings, as it's for his education)

Once I got out this morning (left home at 8:30am) first port of call was the local sorting office - to pick up a parcel with £14.69 import duty due on it !!! (This is to do with my crafting hobby, and not included in any budget - another 'incidental' I currently manage outside all challenges, so wouldn't have counted as a 'spend' anyway)

Then Mr T for some clothes while I waited for the sports shop to open - £22 spend after I used a £5 off a £25 spend voucher they were giving out in store. For this I got 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of denim shorts (reduced from £12 to £6), 2 vest tops, and a dress (also reduced from £12 to £6)

Then Mr A - £15 on clothes for work (5 vest tops for under my uniform), and a further £18 on a 'Multi Way' bra, another vest top, and 3 strappy tops. Also spent £4.74 on groceries.

Then off for my running shoes - £52.99 gone there (this is where my card was 'declined'), but an RRP of £69.99

Back to Mr T for groceries (mostly frozen, so had to be last job). £14.09 on food..... and another £27 (after using another in-store voucher) on more clothes -- another 2 pairs of shorts, another 2 vest tops, 2 blouses, another dress (reduced to £7 from £14) and a 6 pair pack of trainer socks

Scurried home from there, crammed frozen and chilled food into freezer and fridge as appropriate, grabbed a butty, got changed (while making phone call), and just made it to work on time.

More shopping as I left work - £10.77 on groceries in Mr M and £3.27 on milk from A!di.

Came home, made and ate tea, then went back for my first Whoospie hunt in ages...... spent a further £6.25, but this did include £3.23 on salad stuff I'd forgotten to pick up all day ;)

By the time I add in the Direct Debits for my TV Licence and gas/electricity, I've spent a humungous £293.49 from my Frugal Living budgets (which give me a total of £8k for the year), and a further £344.68 outside of all challenges/budgets - meaning a total spend of £638.17

But the really frightening thing is that I've realised this would once have been 'normal' for me..... I could easily spend £200/week on the main grocery shop alone (feeding 5 of us, and including toiletries, cleaning and pet food - and that was on top of school dinners for 3 and canteen meals at work for 2), plus £20-£30 a couple of other days each week on 'top-ups'. £100-£150/month on clothes was 'nothing', and I'd have been buying myself a new laptop at the same time as getting one for DS (having done all the research, it would have been as easy to upgrade mine 'now' as in another 6-12 months!)

Today I'm just feeling totally shell-shocked - even if I do have all the groceries in I should need for at least the next week (including milk as I bought 12 pints today, and also bought 12 litres of pop for DS which he'll guzzle as an alternative - though he has been told that's all the pop he's getting this month)

Will admit now I've done a small cheat again  I've got a K/eeze order due anytime (order was picked up last Thursday), and I'll have no control over which day it comes - plus it'll almost certainly come too late in the day for me to then be able to go out for any groceries we're running short of. So I've taken the money out of my purse today (which also means I'm sure of having it to hand, and the correct money at that) and put it to one side for when they come. As such I'm considering it 'spent' today, as the money is no longer in my bank or purse.......
