    Hi ILGPink, wow thanks! *blushes*

Payday's come and went, so it's time for an update.

I didn't get paid as much this month, which isn't great. I think I can comfortably put away £100.00 for the wedding, but I want to hold off until the end of the month before I commit to waving goodbye to another £100.

Lots of things happening this month including a hen party, car repairs, car MOT, and we'll be booking flights as a very close relative of mine has announced they're getting married in July (they only told everyone last week! Nobody had a clue).

I obviously hadn't budgeted for my cousin's wedding which is why I don't know if I can put away my full £200 into my Wedding account, update to come :D

In other news, I can add a solid £20.00 into my regular savings (woo hoo!) As before, I have put more than that into the account, but that money will all disappear after the MOT etc etc. If we can get away with spending less than what we'd budgeted then I'll probably add it to my "actual" total.

Thank god for spreadsheets, they've been a great help in getting my regular savings account organised.

As soon as this financial year is over I'll contact the Nationwide to see if I can transfer my current eIsa to the new interest rate (I signed up when it was at 1.75% interest incl bonus amount, and now it's about 3% or something).

Have a good weekend folks :)

    I just realised something.

I haven't been as focused last month, and by right this should've hit me sooner. My self-imposed target of reaching 2 K by June is very very close, and we're only half-way there, with only two other pay-packets to go.

Will need to try very hard this month...

  • Hello Mary and ILG Pink,

Wow your both doing well so far... we've had a crazy couple of weeks. As I have said before trying to sell our flat and upsize. Well last week was bumper week for viewings and one offer. Unfortuantely the offer and counter offer were both lower than we can afford to sell for - we are now waiting for the phone to ring for hopefully a third offer of what we want. If not it will be a shame to loose it - especially as the person is a cash buyer. Its pretty tough at the mo - we are looking to sell at the bottom end of what we want and will likely buy at our top end. Savings well you all know how they are fairing at the mo.

On a different subject - getting MSE wise hubby and I are in the process of adding £5k as an overpayment to the current mortgage - hopefully this should help with the equity and work better for us than savings accounts.

I'm also looking into moving previous years ISA and opening a fresh one this year. I also set up a regular saver with First Direct - making use of their 8% rate.

So a busy period! Looking forward to reading all your updates.

Hope you get the third offer Clarissa :) these things have a tendency to drag on, don't they?

Well, I have learnt something today. Never ever ever leave things that you need to the very last minute.

Let me explain. I am going away to the Rep of Ireland at the weekend, for a hen party. So, today I exchanged some Euros. I had budgeted for this, so it wasn't anything new.

I also decided last month that I'd get my hair cut for the occasion, so that I'd look half decent at least. I got this done today, as I'm off and thought I'd get both things done at the same time.

As it turns out, I realised I needed to get hair mousse and hair spray as well. This is something I've been putting off and off and off, for about two months now, maybe more.

I have needed the mousse badly though for ages (massive frizz problems lol) so I decided I'd get it today while I was in town, so I'd have it for the weekend.

I know it'll last me for ages, but I also bought jewellery and tights for an outfit (the theme is 80s rock chick). It was all in sale (I am actually really proud of my finds, the best of which were tights at £1.75, w00t!) but I have now checked my bank balance and my heart's sunk a little bit.

This is turning into a ramble (why do I always do that? :) )

The point is, if I'd bought some of these things last month it wouldn't have been too bad. I wouldn't have been able to put away as much last month, but these were bits and pieces and in the grand scheme of things didn't come to a massive amount, and it wouldn't have added up to my very high total for today.

It's something I'll need to work on...

It's another lovely day today, hope you guys are getting some sun too :D

  • Mary, too true!

Well yesterday was a random day. We got told we are getting a 2.5% pay rise. However this is going to be paid as a lump sum in this months pay. Its pooh for pension though as I'll be out of pocket as this wont increase by the pay increase. Im considering paying the difference into the pension plan as an overpayment. You know with compound interest it'd do more in there than in rubbish savings account.

....and some more news. Yes they did come back with a third counter offer which we accepted. Now got the lovely task of shopping for somewhere new. Problem ive got is that i love where we live. Its just way too expensive to upscale here, we wouldn't get much more for our money :( so we are looking at some new areas. So this weekend is a spot of house hunting.

  • Hello, thought it was worth a quick update. Well we are now on week 2 of house hunting. Second viewed a couple of houses we liked whilst waiting to hear if our final offer has been accepted. We also really like a couple more houses so likely to put cheeky offers in those too!

Recieved solicitors paperwork through and heard from our estate agents. Our buyers very keen to move! Eeekk poop we got no where to live yet!

Finally - got a nice mini suprise today. Logged on new bank account and bang a lovely £100 for signing up with them. Quite unexpected. Not going to say "no thanks!"

Hoping your all have a good weekend.

Excellent news about the house (and the £100 ;) ) but hope you find somewhere else soon now!!!

Nothing to report here, hen weekend was great fun :D I have just over £100.00 left as spending money, so I'm actually doing really well this month, all I need buy is some food for my lunches in work.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Hi Mary,

I have somewhat followed what you have been writing. You sound very hard working and glad to read that some people in Britain have the conservative mentality.
I am in the process of saving for a house deposit so saving quite religiously atm, although i am planning to buy a car soon, but i have got into the savings things really early haha, i only just left university!! how old are you (if you dont mind me asking)

Hope that you reach your target :)
