:T:T:T good stuff! (Though hope the house gets sorted soon, I can imagine it's proving quite hard not knowing when it's going to happen!)
It's mid-month, and I am still on target, just about. Had a very tough few days at the end of last week due to some personal things going on and I really didn't care what I spent my money on - my ribellious streak was like !!!! it, and whilst I needed it and things really sucked I am now left wondering how exactly I am going to manage.
I am at the just about stage, a very fine balance which cannot be disrupted.
TBH I don't regret doing what I did as it was an extremely stressful few days, so it's not getting me down. It was needed at the time.
Yet, I may well need to dip into my Regular Savings before Feb 28th. We;ll see.
Hope everyone's well.

Hey Mary and Barros,
Oh poor you two! Sounds like stressful times until payday. I've been pretty quiet on the spending front. We have got quite a few busy weekends coming up where we are going to be spending the pennies!
On house viewing front now had two consequetive viewings where the people cancelled last minute! Hubby and I were not amused! Next viewing is on saturday although we reserve judgement until the people actually show!
Talking of the summer, has anyone made any holiday plans yet? We had a bit of a MSE wake up call this week. Friends of ours (they like to splurge) have asked us to go to Croatia with them at height of summer. They already booked. We looked and were shocked to see it is likely to cost the two of us £1k for flights and accomodation. Even the cheap accomodation which isnt that nice is pricey. Sadly we agreed its just too far out of what we can spend and will have to say no. Its really pooh! Instead we are talking about camping trips in UK. Determind to crack the £6k savings target for this year and to move house!! Croatia will be there next year!2025 financial goals & challenges!

HI Clarissa
Firstly - well done and I applaud you! :T By not going into your savings and keeping Croatia to next year you have kept yourself on track and also have something to look forward to (which you will probably get cheaper next year as you can book in advance too! - double bonus). Congrats and keep up the focus!
As for me, bad week. Had 2 NSD's on the upside which is great. BUT my savings plan has been turned on its head. From my sig you can see what Im trying to save this year but it looks as though I may be forced to bring forward my house buying plan by about a year :@ So, rather than saving nearly £10K this year its now a case of saving AS much as I can in as SOON as I can.
I'm a bit down about it as circumstances are beyond my control. Less deposit = bigger mortgage = bigger repayments. Anyway I'll keep you updated...
Hope you Mary and you Clarissa are having a much better week, and Clarissa I hope your viewing on Saturday actually takes place! There's nothing worse than getting all ready, stayin etc and no show. They could at least have the decency to let you know.
Take care xxGOAL: To save £9,500 this year. [31/01/11: £1104.37/9,500- 11.6%]

Hello Barros,
Thank you for your post. Thankfully the viewers did come and look at the property but we didnt get the vibe they were the ones to buy! On friday I went out with work chums for leaving drinks. Boy oh boy did I pay the price for it yesterday! Major hangover whilst having to get the flat ready for viewings! Hubby not too please either!
Funnily enough I know what it is like to be forced to buy before your finanically ready. When hubby and I bought the place we are now selling I knew I didnt have enough. I was like 5k off. We were forced to buy earlier because housemate we were living with was going back to Australia and she had all the bills in her name. We really didnt want to get saddled with responsbility for bills, finding new tenant etc for the sake of 6-8 months, so decided to buy quicker than had planned. I had no choice but to put the costs on 0% credit cards and do the balance transfers until it was paid off. Im glad to say it did take me a long time to get sorted but so glad to be out of that. This is my main driver for saving as much as I can now to avoid that situation again. Im sure as long as your sensible about it you will be fine.
As for the emotional side of saving... must admit I have my ups and downs too. We bought this place as a 3 year place and its turned out to be a 5 year one. We have agreed if it has not sold by end of year we are going to rent. This makes the savings target even more important. Like I say, really want to avoid the 0% credit cards. So sending e-hugs to you.
As for spending on friday... actually turned out to be a cheap night. A few work collegues were flashing the company credit card so made a bit too much use of it! Oh well, dont go out that much so it was definately a one off!!

Hi Clarissa!
Good to hear from you, I haven't been online for a few days!
I guess if saving was so straight forward and devoid of emotions then it'd be much easier which is why you get such a buzz off it when you get somewhere each month and see your balance on the up!
I like the sound of this company credit card for the drinks rounds - I need one of those, haha! I have a works drinks thing on payday (Friday) but hoping to just have one or 2 then leave for a quiet night and no Saturday hangover!
Any news from the viewers yet?GOAL: To save £9,500 this year. [31/01/11: £1104.37/9,500- 11.6%]

I really need to vent, I am sorry.
OH really p***ed me off today. I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed as I have long car journey tomorrow and I’ll be using the last of my money (£50) on filling the car up with petrol.
I get paid on Monday but it just means that I won’t be able to really do much this weekend, which is fine.
However, OH turns around to me and says, somewhat aggressively: “how can you have so little money, are you leading a double-life or something?”
NO, it’s because I put away every single penny I can towards our future and you have just thrown it right back at my face.
He then proceeded to say that I am making him feel really bad because I am putting away 4 times the amount he’s putting towards our wedding.
Yeah, I am doing to annoy you. That makes sense.
I am so frustrated right now. I am tired and worried about tomorrow’s journey and the last thing I need is him throwing back at my face everything I’m doing.
I think this whole income thing is really bothering him, but what am I supposed to do about it. Technically we have the same disposable income seen as I am saving so much and I always pay the most when it comes to large payments such as for the car or heating oil etc.
My figures mightn’t really show a massive amount being saved up but it’s the best I can do with what I’ve got. Of course I could do better, but I am really really trying and if this is how he feels is there really any point?
I am sorry. I do read this thread regularly to see what’s going on with you guys and was going to post an update/reply to a few posts on payday (Monday) but I just needed to vent.Insisti, persisti, raggiungi e conquisti0
