I would try hardening the wax with an ice cube chipping off what you can then cover the wax with brown paper and ironing it with quite a hot iron - the paper should absorb the wax. - either that I think you can use turps or something maybe someone else can help you with thatEvery days a School day!0

Hi there
You could try placing a piece of brown paper over the wax and ironing with a warm iron.. keep moving the paper so it can soak up more..
I have had to do this before when i got wax on a carpet... just make sure its not too warm

Hi - my first post (and look!) on this forum.
I have removed wax from things (including a massive candle spill on a brand new carpet!) by placing kitchen roll over the wax and repeatedly running an iron on quite a low setting over the kitchen roll. As the wax re-melts it is absorbed by the kitchen roll - apparantly it used to be done with brown paper. You do have to be patient and I have never had the incident of the wax melting into whatever you are removing it from - hope this helps!
sorry - was obvioiusly writing this as others posts were going on - just goes to show though, it's worth a try and has worked for more than one of us!0 -
How about putting it in the freezer and then chipping it off carefully?0

I'd vote for the iron and brown paper trick too - this is one OS remedy that definitely does work! I remember Gran and Mum doing this - and I have too!Resolution:

If you can get old fashioned blotting paper that is even better as it is more absorbentIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Thanks all. I'm off to get the iron out!0

Hi sleepy,
I hope you get it sorted out. I've added your thread to the main one on removing candlewax to keep the suggestions together.

I have managed to spill candle wax on my tiled floor. The tiles are black and smooth and so I'm concerned that scraping it away may mark them.
I've had a look in the indexed collections for removing stains etc from flooring but can't see the best way to remove this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.2013: Interflora Vouchers, Christmas Decorations, NNUK goody bag, thermos flask, macwet gloves0
