Peopl who live in Plymouth and get a free bus pass:
The bus pass also acts as a Plymcard. This gives you discounted admission to leisure facilities within Plymouth.

RE: watersure - I do believe there is a similar scheme for electricity too. You need to contact your electricity supplier.
Yes they do but you have to be on income support and was told had to have less than £3,000 a year coming in which i said was rediculous as disabled in all the time on ESA have 4 children and husband but can't get help as contribution based (found out is entitled to income based but as worked can't and same amount)

I'm alittle confused. Is the yellow card a national thing, is it the children who receive. Also can anyone help (I know its abit off the discusion) When I came from hospital had a disabled assessment by the social and also a carers assessment for my husband does this mean that we're registered - disabled and carer???? I get very confused now and this isn't helping lol

We've had the "registered disabled" discussion on here before. Legally, you don't have to and it does vary from council to council.

We went to London last week and got a free place for our son on the Original Bus tour. The tours aren't cheap but it was a really good tour and we were on there a long time. Our son loved it.
Be the change you want to see :j

  • Charlton Athletic Football Club offer an annual season ticket for £75 and carer goes free. My husband and his friend pay half each it gives them an afternoon out and me a little time to myself. Excellent well done CAFC.:j

Can't remember if i have mentioned it but if you live in sheffield and are on benefits you can get a Slice card which entitles you to discounted leisure, and if you get mid or high rate care DLA you can get a plus one on the slice card so your carer goes free

Hi, my son has been getting HRC and LRM for 6 months but he looks fine so I am a bit nervous about asking for discounts. Do most places just ask to see the DLA letter? Has anyone ever been challenged about this - I would be mortified. Last week we paid nearly £50 to go to the Eden Project, and didnt manage to see it all because he started feeling poorly so it would have made a real difference if we had got a reduction. We want to go to a small local attraction that advertises free entry for disabled people so I think I am going to give it a go.

Volvo will do an additional 4% discount over and above current offers plus free metallic paint if you are on DLA HRMC.

My son has been on the same for several years now and it took a while to learn about diff discounts available so great for this thread. We have learnt when we go out to particular places we now carry his DLA letter and Dr diagnosis report as some want proof they can't que etc and DLA doesn't explain this we needed this for the merlin group but once shown haven't had to show again. U do need to get a thick skin when asking comes with time. As mentioned previously many local authorities issue a disabled card when you go on to their database and lots of places just accept that. If he is able to go to the cinema you can apply for a CEA card £5 for 3 years this allows him the child price and one carer free this has never been refused at any cinema even private local ones. We have never been challenged or made to feel embarassed. Many a time we have had to leave attractions or spent a whole day trying to find him as he has ran off and hidden due to stress unfortunately before we knew of these discounts. Husband got a parking ticket once as on way to get ticket our son ran off when he had finally caught up with him calmed him down forgot to go and get ticket for car. To add to his wonderful day a seagull pooped on him thought that was supposed to be lucky.
