It quite easy to set your Sky remote to work with the TV, you can go to interactive on the EPG and it will guide you through it.
Or try this:-
Sky+ Remote Control Unit Programming Procedure Follow the steps below
1. Select any channel on the TV.
2. Point your Sky+ remote control away from the TV and press the tv button.
3. Press and hold down the Select and red buttons simultaneously on the Sky+ remote control until the red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control flashes twice.
4. Input the 4 digit number from the Sky+ remote control codes then press the Select button.
(For Samsung 0060)
The red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control should flash twice.
5. Point the Sky+ remote control at the TV and try the volume button.- If this works try the other TV functions.
- If these work then the correct code has been selected.
- It's important to note that not all TV functions will be supported by the Sky+ remote control e.g. Picture in Picture.
Please note: In order to operate both your TV and Sky+ with your Sky+ remote control, you will be required to switch modes e.g. to switch on your TV from stand-by, you would need to press “TV” followed by the “Stand-by” button. Then to change channel on your Sky+ you would need to press the “Sky” button followed by the “TV guide” button. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
In that case it could be the remote default setting that is doing it, I would suggest instead of trying to discredit all answers you get, you try some as samsung TV sets are usualy very good, I have 4 in the hous all no problems and have had quite a few over the years as we tend to change a tve every 18 mionths to 2 years and for the past 6 years have always had samsung due to quality reliability and compatability with other equipment.
How do i get round that with the remote?
I never use the TV,s remote only to turn it on.0 -

Yes! This one!
If you dig out your Sky+HD User Guide you will find Remote Control set up instructions on page 67.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
So are we saying its better to have the Sky remote to work the TV?0
-
That is the consensus here.
Why use two when one will do?
P.S. I tried to reproduce your fault on my Samsung but couldn't so this may not fix your problem, however nothing ventured.
PPS If this fails you could try connecting the set via Scart and see if the problem persists. I'd be interested if you can see much difference in picture quality. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I put the scart in and the picture quality is very bad but then again it could be that im used to HD now.0 -
