Help before i chuck TV out of Window please

Options
Right I would like some advice and help please Problems im having with New TV as this is now the 3rd one we have had in the last month or so and i think im giving up the will to live with this new problems im having.

The TV is a Samsung LE22B450C4WXXU and was got from Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293881/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512%7C/c_2/3%7C15701169%7CTelevisions%7C14419667/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419667%7CLCD+TVs%7C19878730.htm

The problem im having is that when you get like a strap to say what is on Next and when i press my Sky remote to bring up the strap on whats on next the screen Flickers and the screen goes like a Mist has taken over the screen and when there is a black background on screen you can see what looks like its gone misty and ive played around with brightness and contrast and shapness and its still the same.

Also the flickering is a pain as well and im getting the backlight bleed at the top and bottom of the screen as well but you can only see that at night for some reason.

The TV is paired up to my Sky hd box via HDMI.

Please please give me some advice please as this is the 3rd TV in a month ive had and it seems to be problem after problem.

Many thanks.

How are you sure it's the TV & not the Sky box?

Have you changed the HDMI cable?

I would try borrowing another SKy box or taking your tv round to a mate who has Sky and see what happens there.

If you've had the same fault on three separate tvs then it must be a problem other than the tv set itself.

Incorrect set-up of the Sky box to TV connection or programming.

    Fault on Sky Box

Fault on HDMI cable (unlikely if changed).

As above - try the tv with a neighbour's Sky Box, preferably at their house where you can just plug their fully-working system into your tv.

I wouldnt 'live with it' at all

    Why should you?

Have you only had the exact same model? If so change for a different model. or get your money back if you can, 3 tvs and no better is ridiculous

It sounds to me that the remote is switching input on the TV rather than controlling the Sky box, are you sure that the Sky remote is set to control the Sky box and not the TV?

A long shot could be that the TV code you have used for the remote is wrong.

A final thought, there should be no Scart connection between the Sky box and the TV or scart control should be switched off.

I would also agree with others that this is a sky fault. The image you are diecribing to me sounds like the standard samsung screen when selectin an alternative source so it could be as someone says your sky remote triggering the samsung, try changing doing things on sky manualy or when this happens use your tv remote to go back to the sky input.

I dont think its the remote as we have never set it up to work the tv as never knew what the code is.
Scart lead is not plugged in and scart is switched to off i must just get all the crap tv,s all the time.

In that case it could be the remote default setting that is doing it, I would suggest instead of trying to discredit all answers you get, you try some as samsung TV sets are usualy very good, I have 4 in the hous all no problems and have had quite a few over the years as we tend to change a tve every 18 mionths to 2 years and for the past 6 years have always had samsung due to quality reliability and compatability with other equipment.

Remote controls and dodgy Sky boxes aren't likely to be the cause the other problems mentioned which are flicker and backlight bleed - that's just down to poor quality TVs.

Unfortunately I can't help with the "mist" but I will offer my standard advice to all who declare that they will be throwing some item of equipment (usually PCs) through a window - a worthwhile money saving tip is to open the window first.
