I am declaring for July £298.30 and I had a budget of £350.00 for the month so £51.70 under :j

I have reduced August grocery challenge budget to £300, at least it is going in the right direction.

See you all on the August board.

Declaring July at £287.95 - thats £37.95 over budget

August will be an expensive month with DS off school and 2 weeks off work for me. DD also not contributing to food this month as she's skint due to repairs, tax and insurance on her car. May end up living on air and water before the month's out :( Will have to be super careful.

Good luck everyone, see you on the August thread.

£6.52 spent today. It wasn't planned, but I got a lift in with a colleague who stopped at Tesco on the way for some bits and I noticed Herbal Essences was half price, so got 2 bottles each of shampoo and conditioner. I always get it when it's on offer and it will keep me going for a while.

I'm declaring July as a failure, due mainly in part to the fact I lost some receipts. And tbh I'm pretty sure I went over my total.

Mrs M ~ please could you put me down for £250 in August? We've got a small holiday coming up so won't need to buy food for those days, but my DS1 is off to Uni in about 8 weeks so I'm buying some bits and pieces for him over the next 2 months.

  • Hi,

I'd like to declare Downsizing for Sanity for July at £225.26.

We did fairly well, even though we had visitors a fair bit. We even threw caution to the winds one night and had a proper fish supper night! (7 months pregnant now and had been craving it for a while now) We have been eating a fair bit of veg from the garden - peas, beans and salad mainly, as well as a few egg-based meals since the hens have been laying so well.

Will have a think about an Aug menu plan...I was looking at £1 per person, per meal, per day but for 3 of us for 31 days in Aug this works out at £279  which I think is far too much!

Some q's to ask now about lunches and cold meats but I'll try to keep this post OT;)

Well done to everyone, whether or not you're making your target - just think how much we'd spend if we didn't have this challenge to think about!
