Hi! Our target for July is***** £240****** We're really keen to keep in line, so did a bigger than normal shop today and spent £95 - but - we had a £10 offer voucher from lovely Sainsburgers and because we forgot our £10 off voucher last week, they exchanged it for £10 cash! Hey All,
First spends of July today when OH got stuff from the butchers and grocers. So total of £14.77 gone. Yesterday gave us our first NSD of the month so that's a good start.
Hello and welcome to all the newbies joining this month - so many I can't name you all but good luck. :hello:
Dannie a good way to get around the 'urge' is to set yourself a further challenge within the main GC on the number of no spend days (NSD) that you can achieve during the month. It's a brilliant way of focussing the mind to get what all of what you need in one go rather than popping into the shops for one forgotten item and coming out with a couple of carrier bags. Good luck, stick with the thread and your resolve will hopefully be strengthened by the fantastic support on here.
I'm always looking for little milestones as we work through the year and was very pleased that the end of June completed our first third of the year and we're a fair way off a third of the annual budget. _party_ We couldn't have done this without the wonderful people on here, so thank you all very much. :A
Ok, off to read Harry Potter to my beautiful GD1 now.
Have a good night all,
SpigsMortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
Spiggle - I remember when Harry Potter first came out and I read it to DD1 - She was entranced! Hope your GD likes it!
Have spent quite a long time doing competitions today and other than a trip to LIDL for a titanium pan haven't bought anything.
The Cyprus potatoes are in season at the moment so I will get some over the weekend - I think they make the very best baked potatoes! I need a few bits of cupboard staples (balsamic vinegar, stock cubes, soy sauce, ketchup etc.) but am hoping to hold off going to the supermarket until early next week. I might do an online shop but the delivery charge really annoys me!
I have just got a HUGE piece of gammon out of the freezer (got it half price in Tescos a couple of weeks ago) and am thinking of cooking it in Coca Cola and having a go at making my own boston baked beans - never tried this before so will go and see if I can find a recipe.......Jane

I made home made pizza for our tea and haven't bought any groceries at all today. Yay!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Not bought any groceries so far this month, but I do have to shop for some essentials, which I've run out of, tomorrow. Going to try the new Lidl in town, so hopefully I won't spend more than I need to, wish me luck!

Had some sad news at the weekend so not really keeping up with much at the moment on herepoppy-glos wrote: »need to sit and do a meal plan for the next week or so, and buy only what i need and not what i fancy....Was optimistic yesterday about this challenge which lasted till this afternoon when I felt the urge to look for groceries. However, avoided the shops but now realising how difficult it will be to change.
Started the month with a NSD yesterday :j but then spent £16.16 today, although £3 of that was on a big 200g jar of OH's fav coffee on offer in my local Te$cos for £3, down from £4.88....I've bought 3 this week, so that should keep him going for a couple of months (I hope)
Also, to be fair to me, I should have done an online grocery shop on Wednesday (I shop fortnightly because of delivery charge) but funds wouldn't allow and am having to wait until this coming Monday for it, so I'm not too annoyed with myself. So that's £16.16 spent out of my £275 target.
It's good to see so many of you having NSD's - well done :TAug11 £193.29/£240
