Not going out today 'cept for Church in a bit so i am pleased to say that I haven't bought any groceries tody. Actually, last night i was very tempted by some good offers online for food, but i emptied my virtual trolley. So proud of myself! I have enough to keep us going for a wee while.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I did this last week then had a brainwave......laminated an A4 piece of thin card and a washable felt tip pen plus a magnet ( one of the many children's ones ) off the fridge and voila! A wipe clean freezer list.
HTH:)Mum to 3 gorgeous kids
Hoping to have a better year this year.

Went to Mr S today and spent £4.30 on food - oranges, apples, bananas, chopped tomatoes (cheaper to buy a 400g tetrapak of these than a can of whole peeled toms - or was last time I checked, should have made sure!), tube of tomato puree, pasta, dried mixed herbs (14p!), and a packet of plasters. Everything Basics range where possible - I find most of the range perfectly palatable (EXCEPT for the W**t*b*x substitute - Yeurch!)
Bought a nice bottle of French wine on offer (not counted in GC), so will have my daily medicinal glass this evening. Does seem strange drinking by myself while DH is in hospital, but I am being very disciplined about it - one glass only! Have been to see him this afternoon - doing well at present, though was VERY agitated 2 days ago.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Thanks for the welcome and encouragement all. Also, thanks Spiggle and Hippeechiq for your comments.
I've entered the NSD on "View Public Profile" and this will cover all of this month. I suppose the urge to look in shops occurs when I have other errands; it's habitual. So yesterday, coupled with my mood, presented this feeling I think. Also, "bargains" seem therapeutic (short term). My spending very little this month is an attempt to change this.
NSD 2/3 - just milk/coffee.0 -
Welcome, Dannie! I'm trying to keep a tally of my No Spend Days so I'll know how many I can manage per month. Just adding my spends for today - £0.53 on a pint of milk at the local shop because I didn't pick any up. DH had his cereal dry this morning as it had gone off... I did ask him yesterday if we needed any, but he said no as he didn't want it to get too warm when I carried it home on the bus! Oh well, we've got some now.
We're having Fajitas tonight to use up some of the veg that's in the bottom of the fridge. There's a pepper that has seen better days, an onion, and there's a few mushrooms that I froze the other week as I didn't think I'd get around to eating them before chucking them. I love mushrooms cooked in fajita seasoning! Particularly on top to a steak sandwich for real luxury. Anyway, it's a turkey breast I'll be cutting into thin strips, and one of those fajita dinner kits I bought a while ago when they were on offer at better than half price from Mr M. I shall keep the leftover seasoning for the next steak sandwich
I'll update my signature now.
