Spent some money on pasties (cheers greggs) and some stuff from wilko's for pack lunches. Slowly my balance rises.

On the free food front OH came back from his MIL with HM strawberries and lettuce so guess what were having tonight with quiche :D.
The raspberries out the front are slowly ripening, so are the lettuce leaves so its all good so far.

I've tried freezing cream and it always comes out rank, so i wouldn't risk it personally. Even whipped it and added sugar but no luck at all, its just separates.

Day 2 and no spent any money YET. Tidied fridge and cupbpoards yesterday and only really need bread, milk , fruit and veg. I know though once I go to the shop even with my list I will buy other stuff lol

I am really trying to put it off to tomorrow, might just manage except for the milk, no point buying bread today when can get fresher tomorrow o do the weekend lol

I might have a stray £1 coin in my purse so if I get milk with that will it really count out of my budget lol

This weekend should be low spend of sorts. I will need bread and milk, but I have enough meat and cooked meat to get us through this week. Don't need yoghurts. Will need some veg and fruit though, and will probably get a few things in farmer's market (organic rare-breed pork, perhaps a bag of fish, some mushrooms, pate, olives etc - but I don't want curry mixes this time as we still have a few to use up, and I have plenty of cheese so won't get any fancy ones this week).

We won't have DD next week either, so slightly different meal planning to usual - things that we like that take longer cooking or DD doesn't like. And using up rubbishy bits and pieces meals too.

    Mon: Fish risotto
    Tues: Gorgonzola pasta
Wed: Prawns, rice and a hot curry sauce or Chinese sauce
    Thurs: Clam linguine
Fri: Possibly a nasi goreng, or IKEA meatballs
Sat: Dinner out!! (We are treating ourselves as we are going to a comedy club in town, and intend to spend all day cleaning so no meal to prepare is our incentive to work harder!)
Sun: Niece Christening, so getting fed at that

Today should be a NSD as i don't need to go out, except to collect my teens or drop them off somewhere this afternoon/this evening. I will have the weekend alone also for a change and don't aim to be going in any shops at all so hopefully i can notch up a few NSD's and just eat what the fridge/freezer/pantry offer me. I have to sort all three of these out over the weekend as i can't stand to waste food and i want to get it all in order so i know what i've got and what needs using up the soonest. At the moment i haven't been doing much baking because i don't have enough freezer space to store them, but with a good sort out i'm sure i can make some more room so i can start baking again.

Just got back from the weekly shop (Mr T and mostly Mr S). I've decided to start taking lunch into work again - I spend about £15 a week on buying it there, and now it's hot I think I might get away with a substantial salad (and a chocolate bar!) instead.

A bit over-budget, and will get worse as the week goes on, but this week is a bit expensive as you can see:

    Normal weekly things: £9.62
Work lunch things (a bit expensive as accidentally bought posh organic avocados!): £7.15
Meat and other things for very picky eater OH who is coming for the weekend: £10.28
    Miscellaneous (socks, mouthwash, etc.): £6.00

    Total weekly shop: £33.05

I think I probably need to spend another £6 or so this week. OH won't be visiting next weekend, so should save some money there, and hopefully the savings on work lunches will start paying off soon.

    Hi all

Welcome to July! My target is £160 and I am determined to stick to it this month.

My aim this month is to so a stocktake of freezer/cupboards etc and work out how many meals I actually have in. I am thinking that I have at least 10 evening meals in the freezer alone. My plan is then to use at least 2-3 of them a week over the next month and try and stock the freezer back up with whoopises from mid-July onwards. I will probably do my first shop of the month tomorrow and I'm sorely tempted by the M&S meal deal - especially if I can get a decent sized chicken. Other than that will get fruit & veg form my local farmers market and a few bits from T's re: catfood, cleaning bits etc. My other target this month is to STOP BUYING LUNCHES FROM TESCOS! Last week I had sarnies twice, sushi once and a pre-made salad - totalling £9 plus 4 latte's - it was one of those weeks - if you know what I mean - but really need to knock it on the head before it becomes a habit.

Anyway will update later - have a good day everyone.

    Dee
