Not sure which link I saw how to make after dinner mints... crush up in the processer a pack of Xtra strong mints and tehn mix with melted dark chocolate.. used supermarket cheap version as per recipe. Had a dinner party yesterday so tested out... Went down a storm . I cut them out using little moulds I had. really really quick and the bits I just finished off today were even better.0

Any glass jar is fine, if you are doing something with vinegar ie chutney or pickles you will need a lid that is coated so the vinegar doesn't corrode it. most jar lids seem to have the coating on. Jam doen't need the coated lids.
You can also use waxed discs and cellophane covers instead of the metal lid, but I never have.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Its edible, but not a gift, but great item for xmas.
Mincemeat Icecream.
Grab and vanilla icecream, allow it to soften slightly empty into a clean bowl, add mincemeat mix well, back to the freezer, use as and when. Its gorgeous.

I am planning on making some hampers this year, but fear I may have left it too late.
If I make Christmas pudding vodka, apple chutney and red onion marmalade this weekend, will they be ready in time for christmas having only had 7 weeks to mature?0 -

me again!
I love this thread!!
I just come back from Tesco and they got christmas cooking goodies 3 for 2
I am lazy and after all the effort I have already put into doing christmas stuff for everyone so far, when it comes to mince pie time, i will use the stuff from a jar- thats 30p a jar in tesco and included on the 3 for 2, so 60p for 3 jars of mincemeat :-)
Onions are all done now. 8 large jars in total
Another cake being done today, as is the pineapple. If I like how that goes, then there will be several jars of that being done :-)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
