Ironically I was planning to make my marmalade tomorrow, have 2 tins of Mamade sitting in the garage and a bottle of brandy, plus assorted jars sitting on my window sill. I've already made winter chutney, onion marmalade, strawberry and rhubarb jam, gooseberry jam and werthers vodka. i'm planning to make some fudge soon and freeze it, just have to decide which fudge to make.
I also fancy these:

and these

and I have loads of candy canes bought in the sale for these:
Peppermint Christmas Nougat

some kind of biscotti maybe these

and no doubt more I haven't thought about yet!0 -
Must say I'm really pleased to see a thread like this as I'm just starting to gear up to make a load of yummy (hopefully) home made goodies for Christmas gifts. Every year I tell myself I'm going to spend time making home made food hampers but never plan ahead so always end up not doing it! This year is different though as we have a little one and I want to a) cut back on what we spend by making home made gifts and food instead of buying and b) fill a bit of my spare time with making bits and bobs while I'm a stay at home mummy at the moment!
The plan is to make a few jams and chutneys over the next two weeks and maybe even Christmas cake, and closer to the time, fudge, nut brittle, chocolates, flavoured oils and vodkas and so on. I went out for a long walk with my lovely hubs yesterday over to the river and woods by our house and managed to pick and forage 900g of blackberries! So that's my jam sorted and I'm hoping to make it this week
I've been saving empty jars over the last few months and had a rummage through boxes of old junk in my mum and partners garage that they were going to throw and/or car boot and found some excellent little bottles with corks in, umpteen jars, mini wicker baskets/hampers, etc. Was like a treasure trove!
Will be eyeing this thread - excited about getting prepared just thinking about it!:T Mummy to 1. Devoted wife. Christmas addict! Life lover. Thrifter & Crafter. OU Student :T0 -
Sorry for a daft question, i'm going to venture and do homemade jam and marmalade (courtesy of visit to Lakeland for their tins!!)
How much on avergae does 1 jar make, and can you split the tin, as marmalade I need to do brandy and whisky.
Cheers in advance xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Do you mean the tins of Mamade (or whatever the Lakeland equivalent is)? I think one tin made about 6 jars of marmalade last year. If you were doing two different flavours, just split the ingredients between two different saucepans, no problem. It's stonkingly easy!0 -
Loving this idea, im thinking of chilli jam, onion chutney, gingerbread star biscuits, mini fruit cake and snowman soup for mine xx0

How long does the biscotti last in terms of making ahead, does anyone know?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
