Ok off to make my tomato and onion chutney but it says it will keep for 6 weeks.....please tell me they mean once opened (it doesn't say that)!
Also the recipe that I'm using just says to put all the ingredients in the pan, it doesn't say anything about peeling the tomatoes, do I just go ahead and put them in as they are?"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

If I make peppermint creams how do I store them? Is that really silly to ask?
If I want them decorated with chocolate etc am I better of waiting to nearer Christmas? or can I make and decorate now?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Hi Baileys babe no it wasn't that one it was one with just tomato and onion and it didn't say to peel them, i didn't bother peeling them in the end and it seems to be ok.
Planning on doing my Chilli jam this weekend is it too early or will it be ok?"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Made a good start this weekend with chocolate slabs and drops, 3 lots of fudge (and the peanut butter one, OMG its delicious and so addictive i've had to shove it in the freezer!), crushed peach preserve (really easy - 2 tins of peach slices and a pack of jam sugar) and some cupcake toppers. There's lots more i need to do but at least I feel as if i've done something now.0

Hi ladies - what an inspiring thread this is! I have made individual puddings and cakes, Christmas chutney and will make Delia's Cranberry and Orange relish nearer the time.
All those recipes are well tried and tested but I'm now thinking of something a little different and have not had time to try it out first so I wondered if anyone could offer some advice.
I have a tin of prepared lemons for marmalade and was wondering if I could adapt the instructions to make Gin and Tonic marmalade. The instructions say to add 4lbs of sugar and 3/4 pint of water to the tin. If I used tonic and gin instead of the water will it keep the flavours? Any suggestions for what quantity of each would be best? Alternatively should I add the gin after it has boiled? Should I add juniper berries in a muslin to the mix?
Any thoughts welcome especially if you have experience of making boozy marmalade. :A0 -
