the opening post contained a word that had been altered to get around the MSE swear filter

There was no intention of trying to bypass the swear filter. I hadn't even realised I had done so.

About sums up the way things go for now for me.

There's only one word in the opening post and that had a ! in it rather than an i....so by not swearing it was bypassing the swear filter and thus warranted deleting???

Ah right Zazen. I didn't mean it specifically, I just obviously didn't think. I often see words round here with !'s in it so thought that's what people used instead of words that could be rude to others. Won't make that mistake again.

I am sure the OP would have been contacted by MSE towers if that was to happen.

One of my threads was removed and they didn't tell me.

When I PM'd the board guide, I was just told that they don't need to give reasons.

ETA - Just read Glad's explanation so it might have been the same with my thread!!

Not necessarily, I was PPR'd once, for something so unbelievably innocuous, with not a word from those up above before or after.

OK GG. We now know it was just bad luck, as the word was in the opening post. If it had been in the second post, it wouldn't automatically deleted the whole thread. So please start a new thread - we want to support you.
Perhaps just say in the opening post that this is a continuation so you don't have to find the energy to go into details again.

words are put into the swear filter by the abuse team so they are not used on the forums, using ! instead of i for example still makes it clear what the word is so is still classed as swearing

given the gravity of the thread would it not have been simple enough to merely edit the word manually? Or PM GG and ask her to?
