I had no idea messages were still flying around on here. I thought I got an email when that happened! So have been looking through everything and it's lovely to see the old crowd still in there.
I'm OK, although it's true that one doesn't 'recover' overnight from years of carp. I hadn't realised this but someone kindly PMd me and it all suddenly made sense. The weeks have flown by and it's been good to see people, most recently the lovely lady who donated the painting in the big plastic thing and the old garage space. I've been inviting friends who saw the place at its worst and then will get onto people who hadn't seen it at all and wondered why I didn't talk to them any more - because I was so ashamed of having got into such a carp situation. The boys have been here on odd weekends but their lives are elsewhere and they're doing stuff like getting full-time jobs and part-time jobs, and starting college They're fine and we've had some brill weekends just like the ones we were looking forward to three years ago. How one decision can change your whole life forever!
I don't really yet accept what has happened - it's all too big for my weedy little brain. I've had some bad days with the old depression and I have felt ungrateful and undeserving of what I've had. I've watched other shows and felt nothing, then it sinks in and I feel very emotional. I find it very difficult watching makeover programmes and definitely anything about people being ripped off.
I'm happy to see that the show may be aired soon. It seems most unlikely! I can't imagine what it will be like seeing it all. I have watched the show since it started and never seen an episode that wasn't funny and sad and happy and emotional and to be up there going through it all and seeing the team messing about in my own house will be too weird for words!
I'm sorry I haven't been able to appear on here much of late. It's all felt too much and there's only so many things I can say. I hope a bunch of us have become good friends and will keep in contact, although maybe not on here. I feel very close to the people who helped me through the past months. PM me for my e-mail address if you haven't got it and want to keep in touch.
I'm eating better (freezer and oven=good) washing things that are barely dirty, and getting used to passers-by making comments about the house and pressing their noses against my kitchen window to have a pipe at the inside. I'm going to be very happy here. It's all so well done and everything works and that's too much to accept in one go. I probably won't understand how huge all this has been until after the show goes out. I must have got used to steeling myself against each new bit of trouble. It's difficult to accept things have been good for so long.

I have said it before, but feel the need to say it again:
There are some marvellous people on MSE and this thread in particular. I feel priviledged every time I come on and read the wonderful posts here. I invariable get a lump in my throat or even well up with tears. Thankyou for all being so fantastic. :T:T:T
Mike, glad you are gradually getting used to the idea of your "new" home, it will all take time. Depression is not easy to recover from either. You think you will bounce back to "normal" once the circumstances that caused the depression in the first place are removed/changed...but it rarely works like that. It can sneak up behind you and catch you unawares when you least expect it. So take things easy and don't try to do too much at once...that can lead to sad and crook times again.
Right, off to bed...really must try to get to bed earlier...not very good at following my own advice am I!!!

Definitely agree with that sentiment.... you feel better so try and do too much then it all comes crashing down again. When I was in Belfast, I was really really angry for a few days for no apparent reason and I think it was everything caving in again after a happier few months. I have never been so glad to be getting away from work and everything... feel better now except for going back to work today!

Life in Miggy-land has been a bit variable so coming back on here is like having the sun shining again.Oh wait - yes, it's shining in real life
but it's still soooo good to see familiar faces - albeit ones I've never met.

Ah finally found you all!
I kept searching and searching and couldn't find the thread (not helped by a couple of TMA's, an eldest son going into meltdown over GCSE's, a holiday and my elder cat dying) and so tonight, I decided to look through the members list, find Mike's username in the list and then click on what he had posted on recently.
Hey presto! I find you all.
Now to read through all the posts and catch up on any news...oh and I have subscribed so I don't lose it again! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Hi Sue
Welcome to the new thread. Well done for finding us. Sounds like you have plenty on your plate. We're waiting to hear when the show's on, and keeping an eye on each other... mainly twiddling our thumbs.
