Am still playing catch-up with posts so sorry if someone's answered this - but who helped Julia with the garden? There is absolutely no way even she, indomitable though she is, could have done all that alone in the time she had! And it was stunning.

To clarify the situation with DIY SOS:

They don't do anything you probably won't like

The intention is not to elicit a reaction with garish designs and colours

The pre-production meetings and discussions go into a lot of detail about your preferences

Julia Kendell is not there because she's a stunning bimbo. She's a stunning professional designer and one of the kindest women I have ever met. Every member of the team is an expert at what they do. The fact that they're funny and good-natured is a plus.

The quality of workmanship was the best available. The people involved (and the BBC) do not want other professionals having any excuse to criticise the work. All certificates and building approvals are managed continuously by the local building control team.

The above is not necessarily true of other programmes. My experience has been astonishing from beginning to end. These are real people getting a real buzz from doing a superb job. So much so that I shall only use them for all my future building and decorating needs. :D

Can I add to this? (Going to anyway!)

The DIY SOS Team really do work so flippin hard and retain their humour even when things are going horribly wrong. The planning meetings can only really cover what you can see, they found many other problems along the way that they just dealt with and, through pulling together, still managed to keep to time.

They are polite and grateful to everyone that helped them during the build (even us amateurs).

And what really amazed me is that afterwards, once the camera's had stopped rolling, they hung around for a while and carried on talking to people, signing more autographs, until suddenly they just all melted away without any fuss at all. They are not celebrities in that sense at all (even Nick Knowles who pulls his weight throughout), they are just the most amazingly skilled workmen and women who happen to do their job in front of the camera.

Wow, just watched the programme. I hadn't been aware of your situation before (so much on here to try and keep up with!), but I am so pleased - for you, Mike, and for all of you that pitched in and helped whether in person on the day or here supporting.

What a fantastic result. It is just amazing when people get together, they can change lives. Martin's website has done so much to improve people's situations, but this is absolutely my favourite so far. This is real, physical transformation, initiated by strangers and completed by friends.

It's wonderful, simply wonderful. Well done all.

So, broadly speaking, we'll take it you're happy with how it went?

Think he may have fallen asleep at the keyboard Nicca

He has done an amazing job tonight of saying thank you in his own inimitable way :D

Would have been easier to just hit the thanks button but would not have provided half as much entertainment :rotfl:
