Sorry to drag this up again but I have essentially had the same problem as everyone else. Signed to Experian and they have passed my details on to AM. I have already agreed a loan with my own bank and have to desire to discuss loans with them so I have not been answering, thinking they would he respectable and leave me alone. I now receive about 10 calls a day and the odd text. I called back once and got an automated service telling me it was AM.

What is the best way to get rid of them pestering me? Has anybody had much luck with their complaints?
  • I am absolutely LIVID!

I signed up to Experian's website; there's nothing wrong with my credit rating.

There was a box saying this (the system here won't let me paste):

SEARCHING FOR CREDIT SHOULDN'T BE A LOTTERY
Don't just cross your fingers and hope when applying for credit.
Use CreditExpert to see the loan, credit card or mortgage that
matches your experian credit report, before you apply.

-free to use and leaves no credit footprint
    - don't waste time filling in multiple applications
    - see the deals you're likely to be accepted for

Well, out of curiosity I filled it in, expecting a list of lenders who would agree ('see the deals you're likely to be accepted for'). In fact, what happened was that I got a message saying they couldn't do that but that they had passed my details on to Aspire, who would call me. I am furious. When I checked back through, there was indeed some small print clarifying the 'service' ; the way they do this is really sneaky.

Aspire started phoning early the next morning and phoned every few hours since. I anwsered the first call and told them to go away and remove my info, but they haven't given up. I've ignored most of their calls but have just answered another. She said she was 'Aspire calling ON BEHALF OF Experian'. Are they the same company? She said they were.

Yes, caveat emptor and all that, but jeez... you'd have though the rules rlating to the financial services industry would have well and truly sewn up this kind of underhand practise.

God, I'm !!!!ed off about it. :-(.

They (the CRA) wouldn't make much money by flogging a few £2 statutory reports.

They make their money by convincing people it would be £6 well spent to see your magical Credit Score!
That and farming your details out to as many broker vultures they can to get some referral/introducer fees.

People just assume because money is involved, the scammers can't operate.
  • Like everyone on here I have also been a victim of trusting Experian / Credit Expert in finding me a relatively small debt consolidation loan. I have a good credit rating, and just needed a loan at around 8% - 9% APR to reduce interest charges. Immediately received a very pushy call from Aspire Money asking for every personal detail. I made it clear 5+ times in the conversation that the APR needed to be below 10%.

A week later I received a letter from FLM Loans (with hand written 'dear Mr Postie, please make sure this is delivered, very important') saying congratulations your application has been successful, please sign this form. In the hidden smallprint is APR 68.8%. Naturally I have kept the form in case, as I expect, they forge my signature and try to push through the loan illegally.

Has anyone experienced this from these shark companies (them pretending you have agreed to a horrendous deal and putting the money in your account)? If so, what action have you taken?

I have emailed Aspire Money and requested in no uncertain terms that my details are removed from their database, and any further scam-type offers will be reported to the FSA and BBC Watchdog.

FLM won't forge your sig on a loan and put money into your account.
FLM are guarantor loans and they would need the details of the person who was going to be your guarantor to complete an application from you (and the funds would then go into your guarantor's bank account).
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"
  • Thanks for that, it's a relief. What got me worried was 'we have transferred £xxxx into this account for you' - just sign here to receive it. Total sharks.
  • Hi all would just like to share my experience of Aspire. I too used the 'lower my bills option' on my credit report and my number was very kindly given to this delightful company.
Before I had the pleasure of talking to them I looked on a loan compare site and saw their loans where 61.1% apr. Which I had a little giggle at as no way in this world would I agree to anything like that.
Ten mins later I got the call. I explained to the first person I spoke to right from the start that I was not actually in a bad situation I simple wanted to umbrella all my debts and that I certainly would not be interested in a loan at a crazy apr. She carried on anyway and asked me a few questions about my situation and then asked for my bank details. I asked her why she wanted them and she said 'so we know which account to put the money in' I refused to give her them as I explained I had not agreed to anything and was not happy giving a company I know nothing about such info.
I was then passed to a line manager whom tried to turn on the charm but once he realised he was getting no where he got very rude and aggressive. He wanted to pass my details to a company whom would take control of my debts but needed my bank details first. I told him I was so not interested as I explained that it would be pointless to pay an amount to some company for 5 plus years and wait ages to lower the amount of companies I owed to. I said I could half them myself in two years. I also said I didn't want any company taking control of me like that. He then said 'well you can't have a loan and how the hell else are you going to get out of this mess you've been in for years'
I was fuming! I said 'how dare you say that when you know nothing about me. I had not been in debt for years, I took some credit cards on when I decided to go self employed and owed £7,500 not £70,000. I didn't press the MESS button and nor did I ask for you to call me'
I told him I would pay them off the way your meant to by working and earning money, I was simple seeing if I could get a loan to put them all in one pot to make my life easier and I certainly didn't request a call to spoken to like dirt'
He simple hung up on me after I said this.
Please if anyone gets one of their calls do not give them any bank details as if they don't take a charge I'd like to know why they got so desperate and nasty when I refused to give them.

This all seems to make sense to me.

I was refused a bank loan from NatWest and the bank lady told me it was probably due to a poor credit rating. So I paid my £2 and discovered lots of recorded late payments over the past year where my poor money management wasn't getting the money in when the credit card bills were due. Fair enough.

The CRA clearly have a business opportunity to recommend lenders who specialize in higher risk loans but charge much higher interest rates for the loans. Aspire. It's the same thing when you buy a car on finance. If you have good credit the finance rate will be far lower than if you have a poor credit like myself. I bought a car over 18 months with a finance rate of 51%. Luckily the car was cheap but it was the only finance available to me.

The best thing about being able to get your £2 credit report is to show areas that will contribute to a low credit rating giving you the option to try and fix it and maybe correct any errors. It does demonstrate the importance of keeping on top of debt and communicating with the lenders (who don't want you to default) to ensure your credit rating isn't trashed.
  • Argh, I had some bad news today and was scrambling around looking for funds when I received a call from our good friends at Aspire offering a loan. I had previously clicked the same link as the rest of the posters on here and had spent the last few days fending off the texts and phonecalls, but as I was not in the best frames of mind this afternoon, I stupidly answered the call, believing this to be the solution to my cashflow problems. As a result I provided ALL the information the first caller asked (including bank details) and then spoke to the dealer who gave the hard sell on a 160%APR loan, explaining that I was a high risk as I have not had a loan before (only credit cards) and therefore it would be best to take a small loan at a high rate to get a large loan at a smaller rate in future. Needless to say, I declined the loan saying that I needed to speak to others for advice before committing. The caller agreed and even went as far as stating that I should discuss the company's credentials with Credit Expert/Experian. Finding this forum I am now a little troubled as to what the risks are upon my bank account and my credit rating, which, admittedly is not great but has been improving over the years as I have managed to bring my credit cards under control. Clearly I am sure I will receive more calls from Aspire, checking whether I have decided to go ahead or not, but does anyone have any advice about how to protect my bank account and credit rating? I am of course feeling like a complete pillock (like others, I only clicked the Credit Expert button for info, not for an actual loan!!!).
  • I have checked they are not listed on FSA, if you get calls ask them for their head office, managing directors name and name of their solicitor to send the harassment notice --- usually works
