Toilet Roll Argument

Is the cheapest really a value deal?
Dont forget to look at how much paper each roll holds. Some rolls hold as many as 280 sheets. Usually most rolls hold about 220 sheets. Some rolls are tripple ply others single ply. So read the small print. Divide cost by numbers of sheets.... :rotfl:
Some of the really cheap stuff are also smaller in general size.
The best deals to find loo rolls are:
Aldi
Lidl
Next 3 only if special deals:
Asda
Tesco
Morrisons
(My opinion)
Some of the really cheap stuff also creates a fluff dust that settles everywhere.0 -
also on the really cheap rolls the actual cardboard rolls seem bigger so maybe you dont get so much. I buy sainsburys basic and it seems ok to me.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

We buy a pack of 18 rolls for £2.99 from our local home bargains.. works out at 16p a roll and it's not really cheapy stuff either and is what I'd call midrange...Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Bum wiping is expensive business...0

Anything other than Value blocks the toilet in our flat. It's got ridiculously low pressure.
I think my OH eats it anyway, so value all the way.0 -
I think the very cheapest is powdery, thin and the cardboard tube in the middle is larger than a more expensive brand.
The branded luxury quilted stuff blocks the loo.
So: it's Tesco luxury white loo roll for me, after being a student for 4 years and having to nick loo paper from Uni (and it was a continuous roll of cheap shiny tissue) it's my little treat to myself!!0 -
I find the luxary stuff not as absorbant too, they treat it with something I think - economy all the way for us!0

Thanks for the tipoff about the Nouvelle offer at Tesco, I might go and look at that tomorrow when I do the weekly shop.
To the OP, the post where you said you'd have the economy stuff and let your wife and daughter "splurge" on the good stuff, d'you think the word "splurge" might have been a bit ill-chosen given the subject matter  :rotfl:
A guy who lived in my halls in first year at university was picky enough to buy his own loo roll even though he was an impoverished student and our halls came with loo rolls supplied... (I only know this cos I ran into him at the checkout in Sainsburys!)Operation Get in Shape

I paid £1.84 for 12 rolls this morning
Wow. I'm having a 'don't go to the supermarket until it gets desparate' session at the moment and loo roll is going to be the first thing that gets 'desparate'. Might take a trip there to stock up. Of course I'll only take £1.84 with me so i'm not tempted by other things!!!0
