I had the Cairo experience too! A very polite woman took a Cypriot pound and then gave me two sheets. I had stomach flu and nearly cried. It was only when someone explained they have built in bidets, and you only need two sheets to dry off that I understood.

And I can tell you, those warm water bidets rock. So much more hygenic and soothing to wash than wipe! Especially after the sixth time.....

    Sorry, way too much info.....

Don't have them in the gents unfortunately:rolleyes:

Aaaah, Cairo! Personally, I don't think anyone can truly appreciate the British toilet with its abundant supply of bog roll until they have had The Egyptian Experience....
I'm well known for my cast iron constitution, but in Cairo I truly believed the end of the world was nigh :o

Back to topic, Morrisons own brand for us, or anything else of similar quality that I can find cheaper. We have 3 loos (:D) and I get white for them all.

Just watched an advert, for Tesco Re-cycling, which said that within two weeks your Christmas Tree could become a roll of 'Tesco Value Toilet Paper'.
A worthy thought, but I don't really fancy the thought of wiping my bum with Christmas Tree Needles.
Just made me think of this thread - sorry GP.

I'm sat here remembering Izal  my gran used to have it - there was a rough side and a shiny side

The Co-op was selling this off a while ago for 10p a roll (I know, we had squares at school too). I bought some just to show the bairns, who didn't believe that was the stuff we used at school. I couldn't get them to try it either.
  • Hey-ya! *waves*

Since reading this thread made me go upstairs into the bathroom and read the small print on the side of my toilet paper I thought I should at the very least share my findings with you. Right?

Well, our toilet paper is called Nouvelle, it's 100% recycled, even the packaging material is recycle-able, ('coz me = green, innit?), and it is embraced by the Woodland trust. (Anyone else have a "bear in the woods" image going on...? No? Must be me then... Which reminds me: have you seen Open Season yet? Out on DVD sooooooooon!! WATCH IT!)

Let's move on to the technical specification: It comes in 2-ply, white, with an average of 225 sheets per roll, covering approx. 35.2 sqm. The top layer is tastefully imprinted with a pattern both appealing to men AND women, (once I caught my friends' kids colouring in the patterns... Don't ask!).

It comes in family friendly packs of 12 rolls as well as more storage conscious with 4 rolls. Home & Bargain sells the 12-pack for a cheap-as-chips £2.49 as opposed to the likes of tesco and co who charge £4.99!

*LOL* I've missed this site so much over Christmas. Excellent thread.

One of my housemates buys the real value stuff, I can't stand it and always buy the next one up in whatever supermarket I'm in, but buy in bulk so it's cheaper.

  • I can't stand cheap toilet paper the value ones are really harsh and feel like sandpaper. Tesco Quilted and Andrex quilted are best. Value is for people who are on low incomes, are on a tight budget, or dont mind what toilet paper they use.
