Woop, applied for a capital one classic card last week as it's been 6 months since my decline and been accepted. No idea what credit limit is yet though or APR.

Whats the best way to run the account to give me the best chance of getting limit increases? Pay it off in full like i do my vanquis and aqua? Although i'm still stuck on £250 with both of them. :(
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Unfortunately with the cap1 classic you will have to run the card close to the limit for increases certainly after your first increase..

Yes indeed, my OH, on a £32,500 salary with £800 debt was approved for a Cap 1 Classic with £200 limit in December.

Ran it very close to the limit and repaid in full, 4th month, they increased to £400. Still at £400 now.

Bored of the stingy limit, he applied for an Aqua card last month and was approved for £750 right away and they said they would increase this after six months.

So might be worth trying for Aqua once you've had Cap 1 Classic for 6+ months :o

Cap1 still have me at £200

My Aqua start date on my credit file is 28th April. My statements are done on 29th. So I think I've had 3 (May, June & July), but I think I might have had another one for the 2 days (28th & 29th April!!) as the credit report I got at the end of May says that it was last updated on 10th May, and it's a green 0 with £0 balance under month 1, so if they are treating that as a month maybe Aqua are internally too!

So if we assume that doesn't count then when my one at the end of October is done my limit should be going up? :D If it does count it'll be September.... Freshers week!!

Anyone know if they vary the increases based on how you use it/what other credit you have etc? And how much I'm likely to get? I have £250 at the moment, the statement I've just had says I owe £221, ouch! Was on holiday for 2 weeks too! The month before I only owed £9.37 or something stupid though (I'm not logged into their hellish website so can't check for sure) and the month before was £225 IIRC.... Probably won't hit a high amount for this one (ending 29th Aug) as the DD isn't taken until the 15th...

Aqua don't increase your limit automatically.

Wait until you've paid your sixth statement, and once that payment has cleared call them up and ask for an increase. Don't ask yet, as you will be automatically declined if you either a) apply for an increase before your sixth statement, or b) apply within three months of being told you can't have an increase.

But once you've paid your sixth statement, they could double it. Just keep within your limit and pay on time and you'll be hot to trot :o

Thanks, I can see online it says you can ask for what you want, if you phone them up will they look for what you're allowed? I don't want to have to ask, then I'd ask for too much or too little!

So just got to track back 6 payments and wait until the 6th payment has cleared? Even though it looks like I've been gifted a statement for 1 day, better play it safe!
