So long time lurker! Thanks for all the information it has worked out well for me!
I had a default put on my file by capital one after my DD was cancelled while I was travelling! Anyway all payed off but found it hard to get credit, vanquis and barclaycard initial turned me down, managed to get a JD Williams account last october started at 150 and now at 600!
Last week I decided to apply to sygma as my equifax file doesnt show any default.. just got the flybe card through the post with a 1k limit! Super happy as thats the most Ive ever had on credit in the 10 years Ive been eligible, will just be using it for petrol and paying it off at the end of the month. So is 1K the usual starting limit on the flybe card and what sygma cards offer a better APR?0 -
Hi all I've just applied for a capital one classic card. My credit score is ok I think I could have got the progress but didn't want to chance it and end up with a decline. I have passed the first stage but am now stuck on the signing credit agreement page - I keep getting a message telling me the network connection has been lost so I am unable to sign the credit agreement online and complete my application. Does anyone know what will happen? Will they reverse the decision and decline or post out the agreement for me to sign and return? I'm really annoyed!
Many thanks0 -
The site says If you fail to complete the credit agreement online they will send out a copy in the post for you to sign :beer:0

Thankyou for that I must have missed it0

Just an update: I have called capital one to double check my application is going through and the very cheery chap on the other side told me they have posted my credit agreement to me this morning. I asked what credit limit I would be getting and he said a "provisional"credit limit of £1000 had been 'awarded' (which now makes me think my credit history is good enough to have got the progress card but with a lower limit perhaps? I had some problems in 2007 and still have an o/d which I'm trying to reduce, but we live and learn!) so I'm very pleased because I know I won't max it out and will be very surprised if I use half of it but I can finally start to use and pay off and build up my credit score even more.0

You're also allowed to have a Progress card even if you already hold a Classic card - but you aren't allowed to apply more than once every six months -
So once you've paid your sixth Capital One Classic statement, apply for the Progress card, you can have both, or close the Classic, whatever you prefer.
Well done on the approval, by the wayCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Morning all! How are we on this merry morning?
I nearly fell over a minute ago. I think the Barclaycard Pre-app checker is broken... this is what it told me:
ZOMG!
/still not applying.
I got the same result as well, despite having limited credit history. Only used the overdraft twice with the bank. Been with them for a few years.
I think it takes into account mostly the salary, and less of other stuff.0 -
Well I don't see how, as three months ago it said I wasn't eligible for any other cards atall.#
My mother is in a much stronger position than me financially, owns her house, earns £10,000 PA more than me, but when she does the Pre-App checker it only suggests the Initial card nothing else - because she had a card in an AP on her Equifax file until recently.
I know you're sceptical about that thing Book12, but it really does take into account the content of your credit file properly - why else would they do the search when you use the checker?
Having said that they still declined me for the Platinum SimplicityBut they didn't say it was to do with credit scoring which is the weird thing - last time I was declined for a Barclaycard they said I should write to Equifax because it was the data held there that caused the decline.
This time the letter says no such thing, just that I didn't meet their "criteria"; and enclosed an application form for another card that I would be eligible for.
I'm gonna appeal the decision and try again towards the end of the year failing thatCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

What is application form for the other card you got? Hope you got an application form for another type of Platinum card that they offer. If not, I guess you could stick with the credit card you have now.
Passed my probation for my new job, and going to branch on my day off next month to apply for the Initial card.
I thought they check Experian as well.0
