As far as Equifax are concerned, yes I meed, and indeed exceed all of the criteria.

Just thought I would share a little story. I have had a Capital One Classic since my student days in 2002 and they have never increased my limit from £700 in the last 8/9 years even though my income is 20k+ and I have since become a homeowner.

I applied for the Capital One Progress card just for the hell of it last week even though I thought I would probably be declined because I already own a CapitalOne card and they’ve just approved me with a £2500 limit?!

This helps because after paying off all my payday stuff, I should have an extra £240 leftover

Yes, you can apply for the progress if you have a classic already.

Funnily, however, you cannot apply for a classic if you already have a progress.

Still, congratulations are in order. It is rare for anyone to get more than £300 -£500 on Progress, and you come in with the full £2,500 limit!

    Well done :o

I think people get addicted to applying for credit - they just love seeing the "Successful" page, it's like a drug - im that use to seeing DECLINED, UNSUCCESSFUL, SORRY NOT THIS TIME...,FU5K OFF, AYE RIGHT.. - so im not applying for anything again.

I must say I've only ever seeon one "Successful" page - with the Capital One Progress last year. All others have been declined or referred.

I used to like the thrill though, yes. Althuogh now I don't really care whether I had a card or not. I certainly don't need one to keep my credit score up, my Zopa loan is doing that nicely :o

Although if this Simplicity card actually gets approved I will be very happy indeed - not because I want to spend beyond my means - but because it will show me that I am doing, and have done, everything right in terms of improving my credit score.

You'll get there Atom - you got a Vanquis card yet, at least?

Yeah i have a vanquis i rarely use - i use the aqua and cap1 progress more and pay off - i have one satisfied default drops off in september, after that i will have no blackmarks, its just i thought with that being satisfied for a while and a good paying record for the last 2 years would have set me up nicely for a decent card but they keep saying no !!! although i have done 4 searches in 6 months today i applied for a first direct account ( yes im impatient ) and got this.

We have received your information and are in the process of verifying your application. We will be contacting you shortly. If you have any queries or questions about first direct, do not hesitate to contact our new customer team on 0800 24 24 24.

    Here hopes =)
