I failed my first test on hesitation on turning right in the rush hour on a main road - grrr!
Happily passed on second attempt in fog - could have kissed the examiner (who ironically had only come back that day from having his arm broken by an irate learner!)

My stepson failed his first test because a white van pulled out in front of him leaving him wedged between a lorry and a bus - he rescheduled for a quieter time of day as well.

    You'll do it next time

Thank you for the kind words.

It turns out that's the same roundabout my brother failed first time at, and having asked my Mother what she thinks of it, and if she can perhaps demonstrate circumnavigating it - her response?

"I just avoid it"... LOL :rotfl::rotfl:

Ah well. Next time will be fine. Might take a vallium beforehand :p

That's pretty harsh an irate learner braking the examiners arm! I mean c'mon. I've been a little frustrated at my instructor from time to time but certainly not considered lamping him! Some people...

Still, they say the best drivers pass second time

Time to give my car money back to Zopa! Gives me some time to save now :D

There is a major scary roundabout near where I used to live and I regularly avoided it until one day (with kids in back of car) I took a wrong turning and had to go round it - fine after that.

Rescue Remedy I hear is the thing to take as it doesn't make you drowsy.

When I took the test I passed I was pregnant with twins so couldn't take anything!

You'll get a nicer car if you've got a bit longer to save for it :j

I've deicided what I want - a Peugeot 306 HDi Y-Reg. Preferably the Meridian trim level.

Downside is there are only ever half a dozen or fewer of them on sale in the UK at any time.

Rescue Remedy - that's the stuff that tastes ever slightly like Rum, isn't it? I've had that before going to job interviews as a teenager. Good stuff. Thanks for reminding me

Well, two months now until my retest so I can focus on doing well at my new job that I start on Tuesday now. Or just having a good weekend :D

Not true, the best drivers pass first time :rotfl:

(Seriously though, the test was far easier in my day)

Tell me about it, mother said her driving test was all around a small residential estate, with no extra-urban driving whatsoever.

All of the routes in Exeter involve a mish-mash of urban and extra-urban driving. Which is fine, as long as my left foot isn't jittering like a vibrator due to nerves...

I've got a Peugeot 207 but would really like an Audi A5 but we can all dream can't we?

What's the new job? I'm an HR manager so nosy by nature!

    Have a good weekend anyway!

    Thanks :)

The local council let me go last year because they ran out of money but I've just got a job as a Web Developer at Exeter University. Nice step up! Only 25 hours a week though.

Well done - pity you're not further north - we're always looking for web developers. In fact I had a long conversation about it just this morning - how spooky!

I have had my two skanky cards for a year now (vanquis and crapital one) so I have a few green ticks going. I decided to apply online to upgrade my basic bank account to a full one......... it seems I passed the initial credit check (first check on my file in a year) as they sent out a form for me to sign and return - but who knows what may happen if/when they do a more detailed one when they get that form back!

I keep reading about Sygma being another subprime lender? What cards and typical limits do they offer and is it worth applying to them if you still have a default on your file? (but like I say, 1 year worth of green ticks from two cards, total credit limit approx 1050 with less than £100 being used at present)?

Sygma aren't technically sub prime at all, they are just lax for a prime lender.

The Silver card tends to come with a 1K limit and they have been known to accept people with settled Default / CCJ but if your defaluts are outstanding or under three years old the chances are they will knock you back.

Couldn't hurt to give it a whirl I suppose but I'd be tempted to close your Cap One Classic and apply for a Cap One Progress - they allow instant re-applications if you've just closed your account.
