It would be useful to know what your behaviour score is in the first instance

I called up internet banking and asked for my score. The first person I spoke to kept me on hold so long I hung up. I rang back a few hours later, and was told by the next person. I have been told what my score is when I go into the branch and apply for products.

This is a list of scores from an old thread

you need a score of 70+ to be pre-approved (i.e. soft search with CC and behaviour score)

    40+ to get an account
    50+ to get overdraft/cgc (or wait 6mths)
60+ to get credit card (or wait 6-9 months)
70+ to get loan (or wait 12 months

As you can see the score is higher for a loan, than a credit card. I can get a loan, but not a credit card.

So if you hold a basic account your score is lower than 40 or do you just don't get a score if your a basic customer?

I know barclays and lloyds tsb i couldn't upgrade from cash account and cash card account. Admittedly i waited over a year before closing the lloyds one 12mths green o's and have always kept open the barclays as open longer!. Now I'm a premier customer they are weird bunch lloyds never had a default or one late payment yet i was a cpd customer for ages!.

Basic Bank Accounts with HSBC do not have behaviour scores. If you attempt to upgrade to a standard HSBC current account, it's entirely credit check related and you'll have to satisfy the credit check requirements as if you were applying for a new current account. :)
