Yeah that's what I worked out, too. I reckon they'll round it to either £1,600 or £1,700 :o

Watch out if you actually find that SIM again, and start using it. Direct debits expire if they go unused for some time, usually 13 months, but it can depend on the bank and the originator.

BTW, it's less obvious that an "airtime" contract counts for credit applications, but it clearly suggests responsibility, and shows that you are capable of handling different financial commitments, which should make you earn some credit karma at least.
Yea that seems really stupid, remember someone saying something similar before about a credit card DD expiring... seems pointless, it's more work for the bank and company involved! I guess they don't want their systems clogged up with loads that aren't actually being used, but I find it hard to believe it would actually make any difference to them from a technical point of view... Especially as the data is still retained for dispute and internal rating purposes!

Yea I know it's not as clear cut as say a credit card, but it's got to help, and if you've got very little then it's got to be a good thing, and still at least shows some history. Thanks to o2 i'm going to have to change network, so that leaves 3 and my Natpest accounts as the oldest ones.

Obviously the more established your file becomes the less impact it would have... I see my credit report as a bit like an art portfolio - where when you've done enough work professionally (most) people aren't going to care a great deal about your GCSE drawings or whatever, they'll care about your recent work - but if you've just left college and are starting out then it's still going to have a pretty big importance.

Credit is also one big game - hence knowing how to juggle searches and applications by not having too many/applying for certain things now, then moving on to something else etc.... and abusing Sygma's application system once you're in to try and get as much as you can!! :D:p Oh I can't wait until December :rotfl:

I can't remember who, but when I had just been accepted for Sygma someone said they had a really stupid limit, like £xx26 or something random.... so they might still stick to dead on 30%!

    I'm thinking mine will go up to £260 (30%) If it's £250 I won't be impressed :p

Received my Aqua card today, and they have started me on a £900 limit. I thought I would have got £250.
    :j:j:j:j

So now I have Capital One, and Aqua card, but was refused for JD Williams.

    Go figure!

My hoover broke down at the weekend, so will use the Aqua to get a new one.

    Any recommendations for a hoover?

LOL, eventually! Sorry because of uni etc I didn't have a clue how long mine took, yours seems to have taken forever though! That's a nice limit :) They might raise it automatically in month 5 like for me and Paris :)

That's strange, I was accepted for JDW.... Just remembered I've got "Studio 24" too... actually things from there I quite liked...

It has taken almost three weeks to receive. Just tried to register to make payments online, their security is pretty complicated. Wonder whether I am going to remember all these passwords.

Funny my payment due date is in a few weeks.

It's AA Savings I have an issue with, they ask so much random **** for security it's unbelievable! I've forgotten again but don't fancy locking myself out or phoning up again!

Next time I'm writing my memorable information down and sticking it on my notice board at uni! Somehow I think their plan for extra security has gone so far over the top it's actually made the details more at risk!!

I called up internet banking and asked for my score. The first person I spoke to kept me on hold so long I hung up. I rang back a few hours later, and was told by the next person. I have been told what my score is when I go into the branch and apply for products.

This is a list of scores from an old thread

you need a score of 70+ to be pre-approved (i.e. soft search with CC and behaviour score)

    40+ to get an account
    50+ to get overdraft/cgc (or wait 6mths)
60+ to get credit card (or wait 6-9 months)
70+ to get loan (or wait 12 months

As you can see the score is higher for a loan, than a credit card. I can get a loan, but not a credit card.

Thanks, so its just a minimum criteria and they can still use their discretion then. I'm not applying anytime soon so I was just curious how they view me at the moment - not particularly well I imagine!
  • Are you going to find out what your behavioural score is then?
