What you could probably do is:
get a satellite receiver(maplins has a cheap one, but Id recommend a technomate 500S)
    Get a motorised dish

Hook up the motorised dish to the receiver, and deliberately delete or not scan for 28E(thats pretty much Sky UK with all the freeview channels, so that would include BBC etc...)

Im pretty sure it would be legal to view foreign content using a satellite dish(yes there is some English content out there!), as long as you delete BBC World Service lol

If it isnt legal, then dont mind me :D

Good point Waqas. I wonder how many in the UK who have migrated here have a dish to get content from overseas and dont have a licence, do the licensing people even bother to chase them or just look on the database and think "right these are foreign so we won't bother ".

I think the TV license only covers TV broadcasted on British TV?
Thats why I was saying(if its legal) to get a motorised dish up there, along with a technomate 500S, or a cheaper Maplins receiver(easier to configure), if you dont already have a license

Germany will change the licence fee for public TV and radio broadcasters into a flat-rate universal household payment. This decision was made by the prime ministers of the federal states on June 9 in Berlin.

Sounds like some new EU directive in the making. Cameron will be getting his orders soon.

There are also people of a certain religion(cant remember which) who disregard anything modern, and they would not be likely to have TV's either
I remember a TV documentary during which a Rabbi was sneeringly asked by an interviewer why he didn't possess a TV. He replied that "Having a TV is like having a sewer running through your living room".

    I liked him at once.

If the law says you have to pay a bill, a fine or a tax then very simply you have to.

If you don't you are either a ponce, a thief or just plain scum (or maybe all three).
