  • Hey mw
sorry to hear about the migraines :( sounds like you are getting much better at identifying the triggers- perhaps best to cut the coffee even for a couple of months and see what difference it makes! ....
I agree that its so easy for banks to add stuff on without us realising... or checkin! ;) I know I definitely had a few things added when I took mine out as I was desperate to borrow the maximum amount possible! think I will definitely be more mindful now.. good luck with the FD application..

It did feel like pretty much everyday chamichelle earlier in the summer, definite improvement. Glad to hear you've got a handle on how to avoid yours. I managed today without one, so hopefully just a blip. Will def give up the decaf coffee though as well - giving up the caffeine was hard enough!

om and tyo - I think that was the way OH dealt with it - £1k now which we don't have or £5 pm - seemed like a no brainer! It was the fact he couldn't even remember adding this £1k to what is now our mortgage which tickled me!

Have had a lovely day with OH - our first date day of the year :D. Went to Hampstead - checked out the local museum, walked on the heath, gawped at the big houses, and did a bit of impromptu shopping :o. OH bought pair of unworn Jones boots and a nice shirt from Oxfam for £30, and we stocked up on presents and smellies from the Body Shop which was having a bogof on the sale items. £44 spent  but 4 large presents originally £25 each, 5 large shower gels and 2 small facewashes bought. OH didn't check the receipt, I did and they'd given us the cheapest facewashes free, I embarrased him by going back in to get my £2 difference back :rotfl:! They gave us another shower gel instead, hence the odd number. Rounded off with sharing a cake and herbal tea in Carluccios. A lovely day, great to get out of the house and do something different together.

Have done an hour of Cindy tonight, and the stew was absolutely beautiful - and massive! We have got 14 portions out of it ! Good thing we like it as will be eating it forever at this rate :rotfl:!

Have friend coming round to borrow our laptop so no catching up diaries for me tonight. Will try and post end of week review though.

Sounds like you've had a productive week and your day out sounds like fun.

I hope that ditching the coffee works on the migraines. I go through phases of them too and it's definitely not fun. Dehydration is a key thing for me. Stress too :(

I would so love to see the breakdown on my mortgage, I am going to ring them and ask them to tell me a breakdown of last few months as my ss doesnt tally. I would be more obsessed then. I check my bank enough times already!

My colleague suffers from migraines and she says she has paracetomel as if they are sweets but has read somewhere that too much of them can cause more problems.

I keep meaning to do the 'getting up early' thing to have more time to get ready for work and take more care of my appearence rather than a rush job, even a bit of foundation only takes a few minutes!

  • Definitely agree with the comment about taking too many painkillers pammyj, my original diagnosis was migraine with prolonged aura plus daily headaches. I was advised by the neurologist not to take painkillers on too frequent a basis, otherwise you would start to get dependency headaches as your body craved the painkillers. Hence why I have not taken any today, despite the fact that I have had a funny head all day. Some light migraine symptoms, but managed to just about keep it together through work, and a hot bath when got home has helped relax. Not entirely gone though.

Getting up that bit earlier does mean I can put my make up on at home, rather than on the tube - I'm sure my fellow commuters appreciate that too :rotfl:!

Sorry to hear you're a fellow migraineur rlc - snap with the dehydration, and probably stress too. But how can we avoid stress? For me, working full time, undergoing professional development work, a young DD and OH, work on the house - all can be stressful but not sure which bit I am meant to cut out!

Printed off some more bank statements, and ordered some more over the phone. Popped to Boots to add points from online shop before Xmas, and check if I'd won in their Advantage points draw - sadly not :(.

Feeling a bit disheartened due to recent migraine storm, not sure what to do next.

Woke up with painful stomach cramps at 430am this morning AGAIN! I am now convinced there is something up with my stomach which is more than likely triggering the migraines too. Had horrendous argument with DD this morning, ending up losing it with her and screaming at her like a banshee :(. We made up in the end but I still feel like a very bad mum :(:(:(.

Trying to take control though. I've booked an appointment to see the doctor about it this Friday - a big step as I haven't been to the doctor at all about the cramps which I've been getting for over 2 years now, and haven't been back about the migraines for almost 4 years either.

I've also done a bit of research into IBS (which is my current theory), and have ordered some probiotics and peppermint supplements, £23 spent but will get 27% cashback and right now that seems a cheap price to pay for a medicine!

Have also signed up for an anger management course for parents in July, I hope there are places. I am determined to be a better, more positive parent.

Went for lunch with colleague today who has interview later in the week, was helping her talk through different questions. Had a voucher, so 2 course lunch, drinks and tip came to £7.50 each - and the food was really very good, would definitely go back! Have the first of my talks tonight at 630 - feel ready for bed but it is on a subject I am researching for work, so really have to go!

Am sure DD has already forgiven you, they really know how to push us to our limits. Hope the Dr gets to the bottom of the cramps and it's something straighforward. Buscopan is good for abdominal cramps.

I have only had about 4 migraines in my life and they were horrendous, I really do feel for you and hope the doctor can help you in some way on Friday. Plus diagnose the awful cramps you are having.

Try not to worry too much about the row with your DD. As CathT said, kids push us to our limits and know exactly what buttons to press. Feeling poorly is not going to help keep a calm head, so don't beat yourself up over it :)

  • Hey mw
drs trip sounds a good idea and worth checking out whats going on for you and how to manage it ... If it is IBS there are a lot of effective treatments/ways of managing it even though it can seem at first nothing seems to make a difference. Peppermint is really recommended -capsules, tea etc.. but your dr will prob advise you if this is what is going on!
Dont beat yourself up too much about snapping at DD - with the best will in the world its hard at times not to do ... but sounds like the course youve signed up to is also a sign that for both of you you want to do something different -not a nice way for you to start the day either!
Im lucky enough never to have suffered with migraines but they sound horrible - and having had other chronic health issues I know how disheartening it can get when you think youve got a handle on it and then it hits you out of the blue ... but it sounds like things improved a lot over the summer, so dont lose heart that they can again - did you finish with the accupuncture?
take care and hope today is a better day :)
