If the light does what it says then it sounds brilliant. Had a quick look through some of the reviews. I think if it works for you then it i definitely money well spent.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • chamichelle - thanks for sharing that with me - sorry to hear you've also experienced depression, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The bio bulb sounds interesting, and a lot cheaper than the £160 Phillips Blue SAD light I have also been coveting on Amazon! I will consider that as I have a lamp I could put it in. I understand it is better in the morning or daytime rather than the evening. Again, that is another incentive to get out of bed earlier, so that I can have 15-20mins where I could try light therapy before going to work. Keep that tree well watered, lack of water is apparently the main reason they drop!

CathT - I have reached that conclusion too, great minds clearly think alike ;). Talked it through with OH and he pointed out I NEVER buy things for myself, I have thought it through, done some research, and am prepared to spend my pocket money on it. Didn't need much more convincing :rotfl: so have now ordered it and with my free amazon prime trial expect it very shortly!

Today managed to remember to not only take my lunch out the fridge, but also put it in my bag so that is progress (I forgot to mention that yesterday, cost me £2.19 for a gross soup for lunch :o). Although cold risotto in the museum store is less than appealing, ate it anyway:rotfl:!
Did however buy a handknitted angora wool scarf from charity shop for £1 (lovely wool, I can always unpick it and make things from it if I don't wear it as a scarf!), and a heart shaped strawberry shortcake little dish for 75p which I may give to DD or sell on ebay.

Another delayed tube, so plan is to order journey statement on Friday, that way I can claim it back and also put in expenses for today/tomorrow's journeys to the store.

Shower in and looks fab :D although dribbles so needs sealing. New radiators in in living/dining room. The cast iron one we ordered is way too small, looks ridiculous in my opinion :(:(:(. Quite upset by it as I feel we've wasted our money, we couldn't send it back without losing everything we spent on it. OH very supportive, we will live with it for now, and once remortgaged the house in 2012 look at moving it upstairs to replace one of the dud ones there, and get a new bigger one in its place :D. That's an incentive to save save save hard!

I'll pop back in a mo for a chat abot those lights, might be tomorrow tho. xxx

Really sorry! I had something interesting to say about those lights as we had one at home when I was growing up since mum has bipolar disorder and her ex-partner probably suffered quite a few bouts of undiagnosed depression. The problem is, the part of my body where my brain should be has been taken over by cotton wool and I have absolutely no idea what I was gonna tell you :o:o:o Sounds like you've made a decision without my pearls of wisdom, which is probably just as well :o:o:o

  • Thanks Courgette - do you know if the light helped them? Don't worry if cotton wool brain means you can't answer this question!

it did yes, but it wasn't the lamp you've linked to. It was a massive box that she used to sit in front of. I can't remember what it's called (if I ever knew). I'll have a little google and see what i can find

Part of my vision next year is having better mornings - I visualise myself getting up gently and earlier than now, with my clothes already laid out. Having time for a cup of tea and to check my personal email, and then get dressed and showered, and put my make up on. Leaving the house with DD with a steady walk to school. Currently my alarm goes off at 640, but I can't get up before 7 - I then have 30 mins to shower, pick clothes, get dressed, dry hair and leave house. I don't have breakfast or a cup of tea. I am always late leaving the house and nag DD more than I should. I put my make up on on the tube , yes I am one of those women.

How does everyone else find mornings?

I used to get up at 6am, now I get up at 5.45:eek:, which should be illegal really :rotfl:. I'm a bad sleeper but like my time in bed, however having time to do things in the morning is well worth the loss of 15 mins in bed. I leave home less stressed and better prepared - and actually less tired as I've had a calm start to the day.

Just need to remind myself of that at 5.45 tomorrow :o
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Will your box be there tomorrow? Let us know how you get on with it won't you, and i will try to remember to use my biobulb. It is really bright and probably just the thing if the predicted snow tomorrow appears.

The tree- thanks for the water tip. I will try to remember. In fact, it will probably need some already as the dehuidifier is running to dry out the new plaster and it is still taking an age to dry.

I think the biggest reason for dropping the needles is the kids won't leave it alone, and the cats keep getting it too. I am so glad i didn't put chocolates on this year. :rotfl:
  • Hey mw
I have one of those lights and I have to see I reallly do think it makes a difference to my mood in the winter - for me bouts of depression have always been very much linked to events in my life as well and for a long time I discounted that there was anything much else (other than deal with the stuff) that I could do ...however the last couple of yrs I have also really noticed how useful excercise, eating healthily and also the light (for me anyway) can be - Id really recommend it - no idea for me if it is the light or placebo effect but I have found if I dont my motivation to get up and about and doing things in the winter really suffers!

let us know how you get on with it?
  • OMG!!! I am going to be doing a live television interview this weekend for work! Am so nervous... if I go quiet for a few days I am desperately swotting up! Apologies for not acknowledging replies properly.
