Wow, that sounds amazing (and also a bit like the sort of lists I make for myself at the start of every new year, but never manage to keep... :o).

Actually, since l left my last job I'm much less stressed than I used to be... Mortgage nearly gone, back in the groove of study etc.. But a healthy lifestyle with more exercise and loosing the flab will be high on my 2011 agenda!

Anyway, love your ideas. I attended an NLP course last year - fantastic stuff, really interesting insights (especially as I've never had the knack of understanding how people tick) and would recommend it to anyone.
    QB

I also make similar lists :o but this year I need to do this, and am going to focus on things that will make me feel better and are long term changes. You're doing amazingly on the mortgage free front, and so good to hear stress levels have reduced. Any pointers on good NLP books/cds I can try? Most likely will order them from the library ;).

Hi MW, yes I am definitely up for a challenge and I am inspired by your other things so I am thinking of a whole raft of stuff to do for next year. My diary title will stay the same as I will only have 80 months before I retire to be mortgage free - eek.............

The builder estimated the new completion date to be January 23rd. I must be calm and zen about it as they are still pretty much frozen out in N Notts and have been for over two weeks, I then lose another two weeks over Christmas. It's a bit of a nightmare as taking time offin January will not be popular.

Look forward to seeing your plans for the new year, and glad you're in on my not very well defined challenge... it will involve medals now though!

 to new completion date, you are being very calm about it! I am so glad that although it has been cold in London the project has not been too affected. The new wooden sash double glazed windows I ordered came yesterday. They look gorgeous, can't wait to see them installed!

    ooooo..challenges?? me too!! :rotfl:
I am definitely a list person as well! (can ya tell? ;) ) and all looks good for plans for 2011 , definitely with you on the exercise/health thing as am probably shockingly unfit- I never bothered about it much as I was always pretty slim but think time is catching up with me and could do with losing half a stone or so and toning up!
3 x a week fitness dvds mw youre on!! (starting when....? :rotfl:)
Ive find mindfulness or parts of it very interesting and great to be able to take one step back from situations/emotions and evaluate them from a more detached perspective- doesnt always work mind! but its a great way of stepping back when Im in the middle of a "crisis" (usually of my own making! ;) )
I like the idea of medals (well done on yours gg!) and defintiely think motivating each other is a great idea- I always do better when I know someones listening to my ramblings and random achievements!

I also really want a more creative 2011- I have lots of art stuff at home that I dug out over the last few months and want to learn how to do stuff on the computer a bit better to make it look posh! Id love to be able to one day work in that field (more for enjoyment than from needing an income from it!) so itd be a nice addition on the side for me!

right better get off to work to earn some mortgage pennies and will try and update my diary with some lists later! ;)

Ok - exercise part of the challenge is on! Starting january, plan is to exercise 3 x week (I may substitute 1/2 hr swim or run for a dvd). We could measure on a weekly basis or an annual one, which takes us to 156 workouts in a year. Gold medal is 156, silver is 104, bronze is 52. How does that sound? Or, if you manage 3x in 50 weeks Gold, 3 x in 40 weeks silver, 3 x 30 weeks bronze.

I read on Hypno's diary yesterday that one of her top tips was to post every day, just to stay focused.

Craftwise, it will be a personal challenge. I want to knit something other than a scarf, do a course with sewing machines, enter a photography competition. How can we measure this? If I make 1 x a month for 12 months? If I enter the comp, and if I do the course?

MW do you live anywhere close to Morley College? They have GREAT week-end courses for sewing etc, I learned to crochet there on a day course last month it was excellent.

I also think the posting every day keeps you focussed even when you don't really have anything to say. l also I find it stops me discussing money with anyone else which is a good thing as my theory is that we don't find money saving talk boring but probably others do..........

I am thinking about a series of challenges based around the figure 100 to make the percentages easier. Like 100 bursts of exercise, 100 payments etc, etc.

Hi MW hope that you are well and that the loft is proceeding apace. My house completion is now back until end of January but such is life in the frozen north.

I have decided to do 11 challenges for 2011. They are all easy to report back as percentages as my maths is rubbish:

    1. Pay off £25k from my debts (largely mortgage)
    2. Do 100 lots of 45 minute exercise
    3. Lose 100 lbs in weight
    4. Sell 100 things on Ebay
    5. Save £1000 for emergencies
    6. Save £1000 for unplanned fun
    7. Have 100 NSDs
    8. Make 100 things
    9. Spend no more than £1000 on food
    10. Spend no more than £500 on clothes
    11. Spend at least 5 week-ends away with friends having fun.

Reminds me of that berocca advert "you, but on a really good day" - am thinking of the challenge as "me, but in a really good year :D" :rotfl:

    Hey mw
ok 3 times a week from jan youre on!! ;)

:j That's officially a challenge. Lots of :j:j:j for us next year!

MW do you live anywhere close to Morley College? They have GREAT week-end courses for sewing etc, I learned to crochet there on a day course last month it was excellent.

Toots - I live the other side of London, but will travel south of the river as long as passport not required ;). Crochet sounds good as it is mainly holes and must therefore be quick, something that appeals to me greatly:rotfl:.

Definitely agree about getting the :money: out of your system here. I have a few close friends who are interested... but most aren't, and to be honest a few have found it quite difficult to hear ( you've saved how much , not in a good way but in a way that has made me feel almost embarrassed about it). As a result, I try not to talk about it too much outside of these virtual walls!

Will comment on your amazing sounding challenges shortly...

:T:T Yay, another recruit - are you up for the 3x week exercise newgirly? I still need to think of a realistic yet exciting number of things to make or another way of measuring craft success. I have cleared out my loft only through converting it, however my dining room, spare room and bedroom now need decluttering as a result :rotfl:. Definitely some decluttering needed here still, so I'm with you. Look forward to seeing your list too.
