Thanks everyone for your good wishes, it is so good to share my news virtually and have such a positive response :j:j! toots, I heard your promise of hm goodies, just the thought of it brought a smile to my face (although please not a tea cosy :rotfl:, I have several of those already!). OH is quite simply over the moon, so excited. It is his first biological child/experience of pregnancy. Had birthday drinks in a pub on Sat, had several 'one of those' G&Ts as the bar maid kept calling it (ie. easy on the gordons!) and a few friends commented on how I didn't seem smashed. Bearing in mind last year I fell off a table in a bar and collapsed outside in the crowd and had a massive scab on my forehead and knee, I can understand people's confusion :rotfl:! It was lovely to see everyone, although I did have to accept some offers of drinks to not raise any further curiosity, I did ask for 1/2 pint of bitter shandy twice. One friend commented how OH and I were both glowing, which was odd considering how shattered I felt!

The digital test result only stayed on the screen for a day, luckily we have a photo of it incase I start doubting it!

Bit of a dilemma - saw friend on Sat who has worked out this is my diary. I haven't told her my news - although she is very dear to me, and I would like to tell her I feel somehow if something went wrong it would be easier to deal with if only you guys know. I was hoping this diary was completely anonymous - she mentioned it infront of another friend in passing. Do you think I should say please don't tell anyone about it, or just ignore it, she probably has better things to do than read this from beginning to end, and not make a big fuss about it! I feel a bit embarrased in some way, like maybe my friends will work out what a cheapskate I am and not like me!

Went for cycle ride on my new birthday bike yesterday around the marshes and the Olympic site. We went for a specialised vita in the end, OH found the 2011 model online for £280, and we had such problems with delivery we have £30 vouchers to spend, which will get me a decent lock :). Well within budget, and can say after its first ride that I love it! It is so light in comparison to the last one I had (7 years ago); a great bike for a good price.

Tired today though, am about to go home and type up my blinking conference notes in bed.

And do you really think I am ever going to make any more tea cosies after this year???????????????? I am now trying to persuade the Nat Hist museum , the Science Museum and the V&A to have a joint staff craft fair, I hardly have time to fit in my proper job.

I'll have you know that I shall be making top notch baby apparel and bibs.

The anonymity thing is difficult, I think that if it is a good friend I would ask them not to say anything. It would be sad if you felt that you had to leave this community and s/he might just not realise you would rather stay anonymous.
  • Hello,

I don't know why but I would hate anyone at work to read my diary, even though I rarely mention work. It is just nice to compartmentalise and have separate worlds. I would ask her to keep it quiet,

    All the best,

    Squirrel:j

    Congrats on your wonderful news:j

As for anonymity I don't worry about it, but then I don't think anyone I *know* reads it - when I first started I was fairly vague, but now I do think that some may know me if they read the details such as bdays etc and kids ages.
    OPs so far £42,139

Congratulations mw! That's wonderful news - I'm guessing you'll go on maternity leave while I'm still on mine so we're in this together. You're clearly a lot braver than me to even contemplate any form of exercise. I was confined to bed with morning sickness from week 6 to week 14 - had it really bad. Since then I've been marginally better but it's only since week 22 that I've felt well enough to feel guilty about lack of exercise! Hope you escape the yukky bits and many congratulations once again.
