Thanks I'll have a look at alcudia
We've found something in alpharooms
Gran canaria and a hotel we've been to before0 -
We did a holiday in Sousse, Tunisia with toddling 11 month old and a 2 yr old.
Great time, the hotel was very child friendly and all 4 of us went HB for £900 I think? Certainly less than £1kWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I think people need to be a bit more honest-Taking a baby on holiday is not for the benefit of the child but for the benefit of the parents.
Personally I wouldn't take a baby away in August it's too hot -October would be better.
Some babies don't mind changes in routine, hotter weather etc -others absolutely hate it -some babies scream the entire flight because it hurts their ears-others are fine. Trouble is you don't know which yours is-until you do it -although this hot spell may give you an idea how they might react . Some babies don't mind breaks in routine, others are miserable without it.
I avoided flying with my son to hotter places til he was a bit older -although we did fly scheduled with him at a year old to Vienna to meet his great grandma. Wasn't a problem but we flew scheduled -I'm not sure I'd have wanted to do it on a charter with less room and greater possibility of delays. It's one thing to be stuck for eight hours or more at a foreign airport as an adult-entirely different with a baby.
It can work if you go into it with your eyes open and plan ahead a lot more -ie good flight times (you want a flight that leaves as soon after you have to check out of your room as possible), acceptable weather, availability of same brands of food or be prepared to cart a load with you within your baggage allowance (baby doesn't get an allowance) but it IS a lot of work and it's really up to you if it's worth it to you to have such a different kind of holiday-that the baby will obviously never remember.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

I think that taking a Baby anywhere is primarily for the parents, mind you, happy relaxed parents = happy baby.
As for the heat its apparently reached the high 80's in some parts of the UK in the last few days, but most hotels have air con and a pool,so actually it would probably be a lot more comfortable there than in the UK.
Having always taken young babies abroad,I can honestly say,The smaller they are,the easier they are.
Speaking from experience, its no more "hard work" than any holiday in the UK would be.
Other than taking a buggie, you really don't have to "cart a load" of stuff with you - nappies etc are readily available abroad.
Best of all they travel (almost)free !!!0 -
these posts are amusing you would think babies do not exist in spain and are brought in by a stork on their second birthday :rotfl:
Yes - but Spanish people tend to have a siesta indoors during the hottest part of the day. They are not out on the beach even with a sun umbrella.
Added to which they are acclimatised anyway0 -
flights we are looking at leaves uk circa 6am to gran canaria (4.15hrs) get there for 10.15am
returns 10.15am (4.15hours) and gets back up circa 3pm.
if on time not bad.
the early flight out, not sure how many hours in advance you need to check in on a No Frills Carrier, 2 hours, so maybe need to get checked in at 4am, leave house 3.30am. hmm, now i write this out it's not the most ideal time for the little one getting him up.0 -
It can be daunting taking your first child abroad especially when you worry more about regular routines, food etc etc.
Personally I would from reading your posts holiday somewhere closer to home where you may be more relaxed and wait either until you have another child when you will probably "chill" a bit more ebout it all or go when little one is a bit bigger and maybe you can go outside school holdays so cheaper and not quite so hot (which certainly is more of a worry when they are very small)
One other option which may be slightly out of your budget (check out the packages section for deals) is someone like Kinder hotels http://www.kinderhotels.com/uk-index.htm . They cater solely for families and are proper hotels geared with everything you need for a family holidays including proper babysitting on site. There are other such companies and hotels around which may be a better experience but they obviously do costs a bit more (lots more in certain cases) because of what is included
Good luck0 -
