agree with the above 3 posts dont let having kids stop you enjoying yourself,i say let them enjoy it with you my daughter (26 months old) loves going on holiday and on the plane keeps asking to go back to mickeys house after going to orlando in march.i find it great to see her so excited and happy about going on holiday.0

thanks for all the replies.
well august is booked off due to not being able to take time off in sept and early october, and may struggle for late october ( but could be possible)
the wife is now not keen on the abroad idea, due to sleep pattern, food, routine etc.
some links to where to book package, flights, hotel, transfer etc would be great too.
what's a good low end budget £1k?0 -
me, wife and little one at 1 year old
want at least half board, decent facilities, room, air con, food etc.
close to amenities for walks as won't be able to lie around and do a normal nothing type style.
looking at spain and majorca etc.
thoughts?
Ideal for families, and it is 10-15% more expensive than most AI Holidays. This little extra puts off the horrible people
We have been to a few of these (Egypt one aswell later this year), and they are perfect.

I never understand parents who govern their choices through their kids, ie not taking babies on hol until they are x age.
We took our son to the canaries when he was 7 months, yes of course you have to search for shade and apply lots of lotion but he/they dont come to any harm if looked after.
A friend of mine took his 6 month old to Australia
So IMO take your 1 year old whever you want to go
there's alot to factor in:
- travel time - will that upset them in their routine sleeping and miss a slot or two
- travel distance - will they sleep or even sit still for that long
- air plane high pressure
- resort, are the floors safe from dirt, germs, and if it's tiles in the room ones crawling and just about standing and topple over can injur themselves
- food, obviously can't take much of your own etc.
- heat - will they be able to bear the heat
- limited to own creature comforts etc.
each baby/toddler is different and each parent is different, but there is a lot to consider and then if you do go and splash out £ks on a holiday, you might not get time to enjoy it if the baby/toddler doesn't0 -
First Choice Holiday village in Majorca is very nice.

august from £800+/person is way over budget ;-(0 -
We are off to Lanzorote for a month in a few weeks.LO will be just under six months old.I'm not worried at all as we have been travelling since my DS was 5 months -in fact the younger they are the easier !!
Food - most commercial holiday destinations cater for all and you'll find lots of Brit friendly food on the menu, pasta, salad, chicken etc
Heat - just make sure you book a room with air con,It can get just as warm in the UK ,the only difference most of us don't have an air conditioned bedroom or a nice cool pool to dip into................
Of course you have to be careful with little ones in the sun,but you'd have to do that at home anyway. Mind you I have bought one of those complete UV blackout things for the buggy.
As for everything else ,its just the same as at home, except that you'll wake up to sunshine every morning.0 -
I went to Egypt last May when my little one was almost 10 months old and he was fine. I have just come back from Turkey, little one is 22 months. I am going to Rhodes in Sept when little one will justhave turned 2 - never had a prob and he loved it - the younger they are the better
have fun and get it booked.:o

Sorry but I disagree with all your points
I stand by my comments of taking a baby to wherever you want to go.
None of those points you raise are real problems IMO0 -
well fair enough, as i said each baby and each parent is different. back on topic.
thanks.
i'm thinking bite the bullet but need to convince the other half. i don't want to spend say £100/night + in the UK for like a B&B if lucky with no other facilities. then spend fuel money there and back, etc. etc.
now just need to find something, hotel, would prefer short flight, short transfer time, rooms with air con, half board say. budget lets say £1k? struggling a bit i would say0 -
My daughter will be 3 in August. She has been to Texas (age 6 months), Gran Canaria (7 months) Texas (16 months) Florida ( 22 months) Texas (2 yrs) Australia (2.5 yrs). As you can see with all but the exception of Gran Canaria my daughter has done long haul flights 9hr plus. Never been a problem and she absolutely loves travelling...Obviously each child is different but with a bit of forward planning i dont see how a holiday abroad could be a bad thing for a baby/toddler. Plenty of fluids, sunscreen, pool time and shade. Your child will have a fantastic time and you will be there to capture it all on camera. My daughter loves looking at her baby pics when we were in Gran Canaria!! Great memories!0
