Granted but it certainly doesn't make it dangerous on a motorway.

not a danger as such, however having driven under powered cars I can say its certianly no fun!

They weren't real BMW drivers then were they ?! Come on I accept that Skoda now make decent cars but seriously???

But the gap has closed big time, seems that some can't accept that.

My brother has owned BMW's for a few years now, 2 Z3's a Z4, and now a 1 series diesel, ( he fell on hard times), should have bought an escort van. He likes them because they are reliable

!!!!!! he has had more serious problems with his cars than I've had in a lifetime of ownership of standard fair. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

75bhp - bloody dangerous getting that onto a motorway.

A 2009 1.2 petrol Polo is 59bhp - I drove a hired one for 4000 motorway miles and didn't ever think I was in any danger...

Do like the Fabia - had a 59 1.2 petrol as a courtesy car and it was nice. Nothing special, but fine simple cheap motoring.

Sorry op, but does anyone have personal exp of the Octavia 4x4 estate.

I could start a new thread but this is still about cheap skodas, ;)

Harvey and Adrian, advice appreciated. The grandkids are now growing up, may want a caravan tower soon, (and yes I hate them too), my Renault 1.5dci that gives brilliant MPG will no longer fit the bill.

Indeed so there is still a gap - thought I was living in some sort of parallel universe where some were suggesting Skoda's as being a real alternative to BMW's (1 series I can possibly get but 3 series and above??)

I totally accept they are very real alternatives to VW's , Fords etc

And, unfortunately, you are now so so so wrong. 20 years ago I would have been infront of you waving the banner.

However, times change, and the bigger players are now supporting the dwarfs.

I bought NSU cars back in the 60's, check that out you under 45's.
The Lada of that era. My father Il actually had brand new Moscowitch(sp)

And this is where we are now the small bloke now has his hands on the key to progress, :T:T:T

I do like Skoda, I was impressed with the Fabia I had for a couple of weeks. Compared with the equivalent Polo it was a nicer place to be.

Local dealer seems to be one of the better ones too
