Housing Benefit capped at £400 a week!

I have already seen people moaning about this, but can anyone give me an exmaple of where you cant find a 4 bed house to rent for under £1,600 a month?

I just want to know really. I am not saying you can, I just wanted to know where.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

There certainly seem to be plenty of 4 bed houses available for £1600 pcm in this neck of the woods (Reading), which I would have thought would be more expensive than most areas.

I'm guessing London areas might have a problem more than anywhere else.

Seems to be plenty available from £900pcm all over Essex.

Would be quite difficult for people wishing to claim housing benefit for their family, if needing a four bed house in Kensington & Chelsea areas of London.

God forbid they might have to move Stockwell or Ealing

In the postcodes that I monitor on Rightmove 4 beds range from £795 to £1475 per month.

The LHA is £1047.10 per month.
  • Here's a selection of 4-bed properties in a none too great part of London. Almost all of them are more than £400 pw

I think the furore was because this was being reported in some places as £400 per month not per week.

what about these families that get thousands a week in housing benefit as the rules state that children over a certain age can't share and they have squillions off kids - will they be affected?

I've started a thread on this in the Discussion forum - it affects, at the very least, all properties larger than 1 bedrooms in central London, plus I imagine, thousands of larger properties in the south east or perhaps other large cities, too.
