What does this actually mean also is it correwct that from next year no working tax credits we get £85 pw are income last year was £8300 would we get any help
(sorry i meant 2012) please god things will look up work wise by then

If you have a disability and have a carer who does not live in the property with you, you can claim housing benefit for 2 bedrooms even though you only need one. To allow for the carer to stay I assume if needed.

One thing that I hoped would have been addressed but hasn't is the 'funding' for children from age 3 for 15hrs of nursery care/education each week, which sounds great on paper until you realise that those 15hrs cant be taken as two seperate whole-day sessions, or anything remotely resembling anything that could allow the mother to go to work

thats because its early years education funding, not childcare funding for working parents

its supposed to be used as a tool for your child to integrate with their peers, and learn social skills away from the parents.

yes, its a bonus, if as a working parent you can use these hours to cover for when you are at work, but that isnt really what it was intended to do, espec as it doesnt run for 52wks of the year

most nurseries in my area allow you to use two sessions per day (its allowed as long as they have a separate 'lunch session' to split the day), so this means you can get 2 full days from only 4 of your allowed sessions. however, you still end up having to pay for lunches, or if the nursery charges more per session than the funding covers, you have to make up the difference

Do you ot hae child care facilities in your area? Or parents, friends, etc who can help you out?

Yes the school has breakfast and after school club and I am totally on for a job... I have just applied for income support for the first time in my life at 30 and dont plan to be on it long... I am already volunteering at the school with an idea to get a job there...
I am not up for working the 6 weeks holiday as I want to be the one to bring my kids up... but was more concerned with the fact that this will make term time only jobs more limited than ever and I want one for sept!! so better get looking now and get in there before the cut off which I beleive is oct 2011!

    Thanks for replies!

  • is the sure start maternity grant changing to only for first child going to be immediate? Surely if you already pregnant should still get it???? missed out with first child even though on less wage then, they changed criteria just after my little one born.

i have 2 children and due anytime with my third. i am quite haapy with the changes as its only small changes.
i think its a good idea that you lose income support when child reaches 5 and go on jsa because when your child is in school 9am till 3pm there is jobs out there that can be done.
i have worked with both my children in school and not found it hard in anyway its better than sitting at home and your always better off working than stuck on benefits i was on benefits for a year and hated it because i never had any money.

Not sure I agree with them removing the Health in Pregnancy grant.

    The government's own website says:
It's a tax-free payment of £190, paid directly to the pregnant woman with the aim of providing financial help to:
    • support her general health and well-being in the last few months of pregnancy
    • meet the wider costs in the run-up to the birth

Well, even in a second (third, fourth) pregnancy your general health and well-being still need to be supported.

Mortgage Interest Payments Benefits: Interest rate will be set at a level equal to the BoE published monthly Average Mortgage Rate.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
