Leaving Work due to Stress

Hi people,

Need some advice. I have recently had a misscarriage and my employers have had no disregard to this and piled work loads and pressure on me. I am also currently going through a grievance procedure due to probs I have had with the Office Manager. I have worked since Oct 2007.

I am thinking of leaving and look for an alternative job. However, my son is due to start school and I am looking to go back on Income Support for the summer to save Child Care costs which swallow my wage and at least I get to spend time with him before he starts reception.

Would I be able to give the appropriate notice and claim IS due to stress? I mean, I am with a child and before any of you judge I am a career woman just need a breather to find myself what with what has happened!

Please advise!
All the best, Sam

Are you a lone parent as only lone parents can get IS.

If you are then you could leave your job and claim IS and you don't have to give a reason.

Lone parents with kids under the age of 7 can claim IS whatever the circumstances.

If what Loopy says doesn't apply, you can claim employment support allowance, if your stress affects your ability to work.

Thanks guys. I am classed as single in the UK. Was born and bred here but am married to somebody who was "kicked" abroad against will... another issue which I will not go into... another file for the pile o' stress!

    Thanks again!

You are in a relationship therefore not a single parent so you cant claim IS

Why not do this the other way round which will be far simpler and avoid a number of problems?

Wow, can't he support you at all while you're recovering?

unless you tell them how can the DWP know you still keep in contact and I think given the fact he was kicked out of the country surely cant make him your partner for benefit purposes, it defies everything the government are doing from what I understand. If he was not good enough to be a british citizen by your I marriage, how can they then turn around and say he his still your partner.

I think you need to seek proper advice and that whoever said he is still your partner made a mistake. Say you have split from your partner which is a question on the form, he cant get much further away and when they ask why say the british governement considered our marriage a scam.

I assume there is still contact as the OP has recently miscarried.
