That Scheme isn't what you think it is. It's actually run by a company called Forte that makes (largely pointless) engine flushes. Garages can only become members if they pay quite a hefty fee and agree to use these engine flushes, regardless of whether they're any good or not.
The garage I now use I found on that scheme and never had any complaints."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell. British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)0 -
I have had my car serviced at Quick fit and had no problems, but I prefer to use my local independent garage as I get a more personal service, its not part of the good garage scheme but is good.0

As the song on TV goes "you can't get thicker than a Kwik fit Fitter"Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

Kwik Fit seem to be mostly miss rather than hit. A few of the centres are good but most of them seem to be not worth paying to do anything. a search on here will show the problems had with them in the past. Even the things you couldn't imagine them mucking up they do (as noted in a previous thread by me where they almost cost me £1k due to mis diagnosis - or possibly even deliberate breakage - of my air conditioning when it needed a £40 fix).
Honestly, I would find a way to pay a reputable local garage to do it and avoid Kwik Fit. You will most likely end up paying for it another way if you don't.0 -
Kwik Fit charge more for synthetic oil etc.
Try Blackcircles.com for prices - they have started doing servicing - I got my tyres from them and they sent me an e-mail re the servicing. Prices are good (and based on proper parts & oil for your specific car) and according to the site all the parts are supplied by Unipart so decent parts.
They beat KF for tyres so I;d expect the same on servicing0 -
As you have looked at ThikFit then you realise you don't need to go to your main stealership
Is your Astra still under warranty? If so then as long as the garage is VAT registered and uses genuine Vauxhall parts then your warranty is vaid.
If your car is out of warranty then maybe join a n Astra forum and ask on there
I have used Thikfit once in the last 10 years. And only because it was a Sunday and no-one else was open....:)
A later post sugests the car is out of waranty, but I'm pretty sure that you don't even have to use genuine VX parts, simply parts made to the same standard/spec, oil filters air filters oil etc,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
There's a code on the Blackcircles site which gives you an extra £15 off any full service - FULLSERV150

Kwik Fit like a lot of similar outlets offer their spanner monkeys commision on parts they sell, this often leads to parts being replaced that don't need replacing, they especialy pray on those who seem not very clued up with things mechanical, the favorites being brake components and suspension. It's important to stress that not all are dishonest, I went to a Kwik Fit (Accrington) as my exhaust was making all sorts of rattling noises, I was convinced it was going to be costly, the Kwik Fit mechanic had a look and found a peice of rusted metal that had come away from the flexible bit of the down pipe, it made no difference to the functioning of the exhaust and he said there was no point doing anything as the exhaust was generally in good condition, he didn't even charge me, though I did offer a tenner for a couple of pints.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

There has to be an example that prooves the rule.
Maybe even Slow park can't dim all their employees consciences????????:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
