I made the mistake of going to Kwik Fit for a full service a few years back, they do stamp the book for you but beware of them finding other things that need doing.

If I ever took the car back to them I would be sitting in the viewing room watching exactly what work they were doing to the car.

All the bits they told me needed to be changed were changed (I'm not qualified to say if they needed to be changed or not) but did feel like I had been robbed.

Just be careful of any extras they might want to do.

I asked for a quote once and they didn't even know my car was supposed to have a specific type of oil - avoid

Find yourself a good local garage. Look on the good garage scheme

That Scheme isn't what you think it is. It's actually run by a company called Forte that makes (largely pointless) engine flushes. Garages can only become members if they pay quite a hefty fee and agree to use these engine flushes, regardless of whether they're any good or not.

As you have looked at ThikFit then you realise you don't need to go to your main stealership

Is your Astra still under warranty? If so then as long as the garage is VAT registered and uses genuine Vauxhall parts then your warranty is vaid.

If your car is out of warranty then maybe join a n Astra forum and ask on there

I have used Thikfit once in the last 10 years. And only because it was a Sunday and no-one else was open....:)
