What we seem to be forgetting is that the laptop is for the kids as required to do their homework. Why should they, the innocent ones in all of this, suffer?
What is so wrong in having it paid for by the state if it helps them in their education? It doesn't matter if the parents can afford it or not or should work longer hours. My opinion - all kids should be given them regardless. They are our future generation and need all the help that we can give them.

I totally agree that all children should have been given the same opportunity regardless of their parent/s positions. I think its very hard to explain to a child why their friends all have new laptops - even if their families already had home access -whilst the child is sharing a dinosaur computer with 4 other family members, I cant afford to buy my dd a new computer but surely she has the same homework requirements as other children in the class and should not be penalised because her father works full time.

Dont get me wrong I am not knocking anyone on benefits I just think all children should be treated the same.

thanks for your replies- its so typical. If you dont bother to work then you get everything free but if you try to do your bit eg my husband working as a carer for £6.10ph you get penalised. Broken Britain extreme. if we didnt have a morgage we would be so much better off. So annoying.

    I don't understand your rant.

You're slagging off people that are entitled to get free laptops but seem to completely overlook that you're being handed a wad of free money each and every month.

4 children - you'll be getting £225 in child benefit plus what you're getting in terms of child tax credit and working tax credit which is going to be a boat load of money compared to any income tax being paid if your OH doesn't have a well paid job.

PLUS you're going to be getting funded nursery places for your kids.

PLUS you would have got £250 of free money for child trust funds

PLUS if you've just had a baby, you would have got £190 free money in terms of healthy eating grant

PLUS you would be getting free prescriptions and dental

How much more free stuff would you like us to hand out to you?

Why do you need a free computer and internet access when you already obviously have access to a computer and the internet?
