Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I'd like to help. I run a clothing business and if you let me know what size shoes, trousers & anything else your son takes I can see if I have any in his size. I can't promise anything as I have limited stock for teenagers, but I wouldn't expect any money and I can post them directly to your address.

I just wanted to say that you are a truly good person & i also will be putting you forward for post of the month.
    Take care :D

OMG you have just made me cry. I am so so so so so soooooooo grateful to you for this offer. I am utterly speechless.

I will take some measurements and will PM you with them. I do want to say though, that although I am stunned, really really stunned, by your kindness, I wouldn't dream of taking anything without any payment. Even if I had to ask you to wait until next month, when things should be much much clearer, I would definitely pay you.

    Really, I am quite overcome!

I am also going to nominate you for post of the month. I hope you win it.

    Hi Hootie,
Sorry, didn't mean to make you cry :D .

I am just grateful to be able to help. We are all in the same hole, but we all have resources, talents or ideas, which although may not be useful to ourselves can be utilised by others. I am a firm believer in, 'what goes around comes around.' I don't have any kids, but I remember what a struggle it was for my Mum & Dad to buy me and my 3 siblings our annual new school uniform. Fortunately I was the youngest so I was able to wear my brother and sisters hand-me-downs, plus I think I stopped growing when I hit 12 yrs old :p .

I understand if you feel you MUST pay for any items I send you, but I will only accept their wholesale value, i.e. what they cost me. You make sure to PM me the measurements and your address asap, as I know the new term starts soon.

And to everyone else, I am very touched by all the messages and overwhelmed by the amount of support and kindness I have witnessed in only the couple of hours I have been in this forum. Like a lot of other people, I think I get so used to dealing with nasty, unsypathetic toads, I forget about all the wonderful people there are out there :)

What's the deal with the Inland Revenue? If you can, pay your accountant. They're very handy people to have on your side :) If you're able to post about the IR side of things we might be able to suggest something that you could do yourself so as not to incur more accountant fees.

Re food and petrol situation; I know it's not a good idea, but can you just write a cheque? I know they'll bounce and make you further overdrawn, but you can claim the charge back... and at least you'll have food and petrol for the month which - after mortgage - are the next priorities. Maybe your partner can ask for an advance on wages possibly?

wow! I have to say that comes across as very irresponsible. Advising someone to rack up more charges knowing you can claim them back later.

Stop for a minute and think. The banks are rumbling about charging for current accounts. They make money by penalty charges so let's not encourage people to stiff the banks as the costs get passed onto all of us.

(And I'm not saying the charges banks levy are right, it's just the way it is at the moment.

I'll certainly vote for you as post of the month! I think that was a lovely offer and makes us all realise that people can be nice (it's too easy to forget sometimes!).

Hootie - I hope things work out for you.

Uhmmm an obvioius one missing here... thought about asking for a wage advance? I deal with them all the time for my staff when they're short (well I pass it on to payroll lol) Persistent "offenders" I ask if they want some unofficial help with their finances, but people who just struggle one month because they had unforseen problems (like partner off and not bringing enough home etc) I don't mind advancing a couple of hundred for.

    Worth a try isn't it?

  • reference the uniform. My kids albeit much younger have a number of jumpers and cardigans from school that were given away at the end of last term. Basically they were unclaimed lost property and it was a case of just help yourselves, first come first served.

Don't know if your school is the same, but ours don't go back until Tuesday, but Monday is a teacher training day. You could go and ask then. I know it's a bit last minute, but it may be worth a try. What is another persons loss is your gain.

    Good luck and keep fighting!!!!
