Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I'd like to help. I run a clothing business and if you let me know what size shoes, trousers & anything else your son takes I can see if I have any in his size. I can't promise anything as I have limited stock for teenagers, but I wouldn't expect any money and I can post them directly to your address.

OMG you have just made me cry. I am so so so so so soooooooo grateful to you for this offer. I am utterly speechless.

I will take some measurements and will PM you with them. I do want to say though, that although I am stunned, really really stunned, by your kindness, I wouldn't dream of taking anything without any payment. Even if I had to ask you to wait until next month, when things should be much much clearer, I would definitely pay you.

    Really, I am quite overcome!

I am also going to nominate you for post of the month. I hope you win it.

Presume you are now employed and not self employed, if so your new employers should give you a form P46 to complete and if this job is your only job they will put you on the emergency code.

Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you. I'll have a word with "the top floor" tomorrow. My worry is that whilst it's great for now, not paying tax and therefore having a nice fat salary payment into the bank, by the time it is sorted, the IR will be rubbing it's hands together in glee!!

Do you have any other support networks? Church, family that can be tapped for a few £ as it sounds like you are just in a very temporary hole
Unfortunately not. I am an only child with both parents dead, and my husband only has one sister and I think he'd (well we'd both) rather scratch our eyes out than ask her.

Silly point possibly, but the school i went to you had to wear there jumpers, but the did do a uniform swap at the start of each term and people could sell their old uniform and they also sold the lost property thus keeping costs down, it may be worth asking at the school

    GD

I will ask. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that "advertised" in the school newsletters, but no harm asking. Thanks for the tip :-)

Put off reclaiming the bank charges till the end of next month, when you get paid again, or just go for one to start with. In my experience trying to do too many at once got really confusing.

Ask if you can pay the accountant on the 8th, when you get that next lot of money in. It's a week, the IR will wait 1 week.

That leaves you around £100 for diesel and uniform. Charity shops tend to get some in, you could try them (and I won't tel your son if you don't) and tell the OH to drive steady maximising the milage from the diesel.
